I believe that IOSH is the best media to utilise and encourage that enthusiasm and while serving on the committee I hope in conjunction with the other members to stimulate debate on issues and concerns voiced by the offshore community as a whole. To then consider the new developments and improvements in HSSE and Safety Coaching. So that we can publicise and promote them within the offshore community as widely as possible through mediums like Linked-In

Thoroughly enjoyed my time a volunteer on the committee and took a two year break when my commitments prevented me from devoting the time that the role deserved. Very pleased to be selected to serve again as from May 2020.

FIELD PROJECT MANAGER – COVID-19 Treatment Facilities.

Took a phone call from a former Army colleague who is now the Chair of Primary Health Care (PHC) Trust in Hereford, UK asking if I could deploy within 4 hours to train and lead a team of NHS Clinicians to reconnoiter, select and pass for NHS Gold (Central Government Level) approval within 48 hours, two sites able to be converted to fifty bed overflow COVID-19 medical facilities. Unit Alpha to provide End of Life (EOL) care and unit Bravo to provide Domicile Social Care. On arrival in Hereford on day one I wrote a reconnaissance reporting format and associated RAMS. Trained the five NHS Clinicians (Snr Dr & Nurses) in the methodology of reconnaissance of non-medical structures, for their suitability for conversion into bedded units (with all the required support services collocated wherever possible). Lead the reconnaissance team in field visits on day two of four locations in Hereford, subsequently selecting two. Compiled detailed Field Reports and presented the contents at NHS Silver (Area Trust Board Level) within the 48 hours required by NHS Gold. All reports approved at NHS Silver and submitted to NHS Gold for approval without alteration of the executive summary and recommendations. Day 3 through to 7, supported the stage two project team tasked with compiling detailed implementation plans for the conversion of the two sites. Duties include but not limited to daily liaison with 2 NHS Trust CEO’s Chair of PHC Group, Local Authority Heads of Departments and various other SME’s regarding all matters operational. Focal point during multiple site visits for the project team with clinical, infrastructure and estates SME’s and Contractors and the buildings owners’ representatives. On day eight handed over all my responsibilities to ‘full time’ NHS Trust Manager then commenced and completed 14 day self-quarantine period in Hereford before returning home.

Obtain from the site management their requirements of the workforce to, receive, store, and maintain, and prepare for / outload equipment’s.
Provide a series of presentations on building and maintaining a positive and robust ‘Operational Awareness & Safety Culture’ to ascertain the current level of the workforce involvement in site both.

No formal auditing or regulatory assessment was to be undertaken although the provision of a consultant report within 7 days of the vessel and site visits, with any recommendations for improvement was to be provided.
Specifically, for the Pinbush site, the consultant's assessment of the site operations, housekeeping, and layout. Along with the workforce understanding of their individual roles compared to AWSML requirements outlining any contradictions were to be added.
