A human perspective on this... Human error is common not just when inputting data (i.e. a slip of the finger) but also when accurately predicting how likely a deal is to close. The way to mitigate this? Foster a culture of support and honesty where reps can be up front about likelihood to close and seek support if needed!

Sales is constantly evolving with the introduction of new tools, approaches and ideas. Sales leaders should be open to these new ways of working and leverage the talent in their teams to be constantly improving. Often salespeople bring fresh perspective and ideas from previous roles that can be used to optimise and already successful model.

One of the more common forecasting models I have seen in B2B SaaS is the weighted pipeline model, where a deal's potential value is determined by its position in the sales funnel. The accuracy of this model is entirely dependent on having an accurate picture of the conversion rates between stages of deal progression. To maximise the accuracy of this model, it's essential to constantly review these conversion rates!
