I was responsible for creating a network, contacts and opportunities for new work around our new Oxford office base. As one of the originating team of 4, we approached the office as a start up and created an environment that led to significant growth in year one and onwards in to year two. Following a number of lateral appointments, we now have 30 people in situ 2 years in. Our profile and reputation in the Oxford market has gone from strength to strength.

I was responsible for project managing the marketing elements of a merger between Mills & Reeve and Maxwell Winward from our London office where Maxwell Winward took on the M&R name. My responsibilities included conducting initial research for businesses that would likely be open to a discussion about merging with Mills & Reeve through to ensuring all hard copy and digital material was updated to reflect the brand, numerous visits to the Maxwell Winward team to conduct inductions and also…

Major insurer, AIG Europe Ltd (AIG) identified the need to enhance their leading insurance product for the SME markets with commercial legal advice. Our approach was to provide AIG with a process to help develop their product further including a helpline resourced by three firms on a single platform. The workload is shared equally between the firms.

The workload is shared equally between the firms.
This large-scale project involving multiple teams across each firm including legal, IT, finance, marketing and training was focused on developing:
• Client call handling process
• Solution to manage high volume weekday calls plus the ability to handle 24/7 emergency calls
• Database allowing firms to keep individual client data confidential while sharing all content with AIG in live time
• Cross-firm teams providing regular updated know how and thought leadership for AIG’s website and clients
• Internal communications and training across 130 lawyers from five different practice areas within the three separate firms
This was a great example of lawyers adapting to evolving market conditions and collaboratively developing new sales channels to benefit the client and their own customers.
