The Factory is a unique new cultural venue for Manchester. Developed on the former Granada Studios site, the main performance spaces sit over nearby Water Street and its retained historic rail arches. The interconnected performance spaces comprise a large warehouse building that contains a full technical grid and an adjoining, more conventional theatre. The spaces can be subdivided or work in tandem to create a unique spatial and technical backdrop for artists to create and present work.

Setting a new benchmark for residential buildings in Manchester. Kampus combines the innovation in construction with the new construction and incredible extension to the old tower block.

The £1bn development covers a GFA of 600,000m². Five levels of basement car park reduce the number of vehicles at street level to reclaim outdoor space for community enjoyment. This is integral with aspirations to attain the highest density of LEED gold rated buildings in the world. The development contains accessible residential, office and commercial areas interconnected by public streets and open spaces.

I was responsible for the structural concept development of some of the developments and established design principles for the entire project. Initially I work on the MDD site as a supervision consultant. My responsibilities required me to lead, train, mentor & recruit a team of seven site engineers. I reviewed shop drawings, method statements, risk assessments, material proposals and efficiently managed the process to achieve this. I ensures work on site is conducted safely and to the required level of quality as I oversees up to 21,000m3 of structural concrete poured per month. Currently I work as Guardian of the design intent on phase 3. I used my interpersonal skills to support the client, supervision consultant and project manager resolve problems on site quickly and amicably. Show less
