The problem with website projects... Let's face it, launching a new website is a pain in the arse. A necessary evil perhaps. I mean, you need to create content, imagery, get sign off, stakeholders involved, manage the supplier, manage the budget. And so on and so on... So when you get the point of actually launching it, it's understandable that you're already sick of it. But that's where the problems start. I know. I've been there on multiple occasions. But, a good website can be a content hub, a candidate conversion tool, and a client lead generator. A ideally, help your employer brand too. It can be the difference between a profitable marketing function and a cost centre. That's why it's so important that you build a plan for iteration and ongoing development when you build your new site. Like everything, it must evolve, it must be relevant, and it must work hard to deliver ROI. Speak to your audiences, build, measure, and repeat. Because websites might be a pain in the arse, but they can also help give your campaigns a kick up the arse just when they need it. And if you need help with any of this, I am happy to help (not to build a website obvs, but I'd happily recommend some good ones)

"They've worked as a freelancer before, I don't want to consider them - it's too risky" The stance of a LOT of agency owners/Founders when it comes to hiring SEO and PPC roles. And that usually comes down to the perceived "risk" that they might leave them and go freelance again, taking the agency's clients with them. However, if someone has worked as a freelancer and has decided to seek a permanent role, it is usually because of one or a number of reasons: - Inconsistent income - Not wanting to do outreach/business development - Not enjoying working alone - Not enjoying the back office - invoicing, cash flow, VAT returns, etc etc - Needing a more secure income - Wanting to have a better work life balance There's an argument to say that if someone has decided to go back to employment after a freelance stint, that they're less likely to want to go freelance again, as they know what it entails. On the flip side, your employees who have never worked as a freelancer, are more likely to see the lure and appeal of a freelance career, and as such take that plunge... Don't discard people because they've had a history of freelancing. Instead, think about what they could offer to you above someone who has only ever worked as an employee.

Do you repost your old LinkedIn posts? Last week, a post of mine listing 'twenty things a prospect won't pay a premium for when choosing between agencies' got some decent traction. But did you know I first posted this three years ago and then again about a year ago? Virtually every post I've ever written on LinkedIn is categorised and saved in a folder. I then have a simple system to regularly review, update (if necessary) and repost. Clearly, this approach only really works for evergreen content. In some instances, I make no changes to the original post. Or I might make some minor changes where my opinion has evolved or the advice needs updating. Why am I sharing this? Because seemingly very few people do this. Which makes no sense to me. It often takes a lot of effort to get your thoughts down in writing, whilst also being constrained to the 3000-character limit for LinkedIn posts. Plus, each time you post, only a handful of your connections and followers will see it. So, to only post your carefully crafted words once - never to be seen again - feels like an awful lot of work for not much return. And finally, if you're struggling to write something new, you always have a bank of content you can revisit and reuse. Am I really alone in doing this?! #linkedin #writing
