What happens to all the excess football kit clubs order? 🧐 What can you do if you have already purchased your kit but then don’t qualify for the tournament? (awkward) 😬 In Episode 4 of 5THREAD podcast I ask Nicole Bekkers founder of This Is FC88 all these questions and more to really get to the truth of the situation. Spoiler alert- up to 60% of football shirts get incinerated🔥or sent to landfill at the end of the season. In lost value that is equivalent to the transfer fees of Jude Bellingham (and we could all do with him right now). In this episode we discuss - Why are so many shirts destroyed and why is there so much overstock in the first place? - How can shirts (which are currently considered waste) be upcycled into a new product which holds value for the fan but is also commercially profitable for the club? - Why it’s important that every pair of hands that touches an FC88 product is part of its story. - Integrity, due diligence and sourcing studios that align with FC88’s values. I’ve been really lucky to get to know and work with Nicole and I’m always struck by the level of detail and due diligence she puts into everything she does. I’ve spoken to her about her studios at length in the past and she talks passionately about the people who work there, their families and lives, few people really take the time and effort to know who is making their product. Like the other women in this series, Nicole had a belief that there was a better way, that there had to be a better solution than what was available and through passion and purpose built a company that is changing the game. Making progress 📈 75% of Yellow Panther's clients are in sport. But our approach is a little different. When delivering a project we don't normally look at other sports brands for inspiration. We tend to look at brands in other industries such as e-commerce, entertainment and SAAS for best practices. If you work in sport look outside the bubble of what your rivals are doing, think bigger, look at the real game changers. There's inspiration all around from brands that are breaking the mould.

📽️ TIKTOK STRATEGY! At the Football Fun Factory, we’ve gone all in on video content, but my guess is that if you follow us, you already know that! A big part of our approach has been to develop varied strategies across the different social media platforms to maximise our reach, promote our programmes and raise awareness of our franchise opportunity! For us, TikTok has been a game-changer. It’s been fantastic for generating franchise leads and attracting participants to our programmes. My TikTok strategy is simple. I share coaching tips and clips of me delivering sessions. The aim is to add value for coaches and showcase our programme delivery to potential new customers. Since we started, my content has tracked over 60 million views. That’s 60 million eyes on the Football Fun Factory, our programmes, ethos, and brand. The exciting part? We’ve barely scratched the surface! We have a long way to go to become the force we aim to be on TikTok and across social media, but it’s a journey I’m really excited about!
