The event brought together key players in the UK's environmental #horticulture sector, featuring insightful presentations from industry experts. A highlight was the plant biosecurity session, expertly chaired by #GardenersQuestionTime's Pippa Greenwood. We heard from: - Lisa Smith, DEFRA's Head of Plant and Tree Health - Bex Lawson and Joanna Vichesa, FERA Scientists Their presentations showcased groundbreaking work in monitoring and identifying alien pests and diseases in the UK. Key points included: 🔍 £2m annual management program for Oak Processionary Moth in southern England 🧪 Advancements in pest/disease modelling, 'in-field' molecular diagnostics, and biological controls 🌱 Investments in breeding resilient plant varieties 📅 Mark your calendars: New biosecurity measures will be published on the plant health portal in January 2025.
