Who would like someone with these qualities working for them? Problem solving and decision making. Leadership and teamwork. Work ethic and discipline. Resilience and adaptability. Professionalism and integrity. Technical and specialised skills. Time management. Embracing change. Project management. This report by the The Institute of Leadership summarises research into the valuable and transferable productivity skills that military veterans and Service leavers bring to civilian organisations, driving business success through increased output, cost savings, innovation, reputation building, competitiveness and operational excellence. https://lnkd.in/eG2vFGMd Given that the UK faces a profound skills gap, which Service leavers are ideally suited to fill, how is it that perceptions of veterans’ transferable skills are so woefully understood as to form an effective barrier to employers harnessing the unique productivity skills that veterans can deliver, and enjoying the significant benefits that drive success and growth?

Royal Institution of Naval Architects
Defence iQ has announced the launch of their brand new conference, Surface, Air and Seabed Warfare (SASW) which will be taking place at the home of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth, on the 18 – 19 June 2024, where we will explore innovative solutions to transit capability gaps in naval operations. The conference will centre around the augmentation of warships through cutting-edge technology, positioning them as pivotal assets in the ever-evolving multi-domain battlespace. With the rise of potential higher-intensity conflicts and modern challenges such as autonomous systems, hypersonic capabilities, and the protection of critical undersea infrastructure, it is crucial to address these issues proactively. John Stephenson - Forces Transition
Forces Transition Group Ltd - This email yesterday is one of my favourite messages. This is actually an ex-forces person who is struggling with confidence which has been damaged due to the lack of real support throughout Transition. We are at the early stages, but in just one session together we begin to capture some of the light ✨️ needed to grow and believe in ourself again. On many occasions we get people with what seems like fog 😶🌫️ clouding their ability to move forward, this can come from lack of quality support and advice, if you are going to help someone, it must be followed through. For this top-class individual actually getting to 5-6 Key Achievements, storytelling with numbers has been a huge achievement in itself, but it is this that is now clearing the fog 😶🌫️ and making the future a possibility. A CV and it's problems can become an emotional time, we see this time and time again, but you will get there I promise. 'I'm actually starting to believe in myself again' Once this is done, it will be time to look at positive movement forward, getting conversation, building network, pushing this confidence into interview. The FTG is set up to help everyone, if you feel like this then just get in touch, we will help 👮♂️💂♂️🙋♀️👈. www.ftgjobfairs.com [email protected] Sometimes all it takes is 60 minutes, you will be amazed at once you tell someone they are amazing, how much they need it, and how the weight can be lifted from their shoulders. The person in this email served for 18 years, I think they deserve just a little quality guidance, perhaps they earned it 🤔. Be The Hunter 🐺 Serve Well, Leave Well and Flourish!

Forces Transition Group Ltd - As we continue celebrating success day after day, we say congratulations to yet another Service Leaver 💂♂️🍾🍾👏👏. 📸 This week we have been inundated with so much success, for some reason far exceeding the average of 46 confirmations per week and in August 🤔. I am posting once more as I want to get more success out again tomorrow and keep the momentum going as we drive to solve the transition. CONFIDENCE - An absolute must to make you shine brightly ✨️ once you do you will be unstoppable. This Service Leaver once again created their own future, with the smallest amount of guidance and did so in just 60 minutes. 💂♂️'You helped me write a top quality CV, which gave me the confidence that it would reach the right people' 'Thanks also to Mandy to sending emails to employers with my CV, a service which use your key contacts to help'. So, all that has happened here is, the candidate has believed in their ability, put themselves out there, got into many arenas of which success will come and then nailed it. This is all about them, this is all about The Hunter 🐺 Mentality and once again it has succeeded. Serve Well, Leave Well and Flourish!

Forces Transition Group Ltd - Being the Master of One CV, why Service Leavers get it wrong 🤔. 'TAKE ONE PIECE FROM MANY JIGSAWS AND YOU WILL NEVER MAKE ANOTHER ONE' Generally we join the forces early and have never written a CV, nor through service do we need too. Thus, when we leave it becomes a difficult area of concern as everyone is a CV Writer and they all know best 🫣. This cross pollination of ideas on how the CV should be written is the problem and the more CVs you see the more difficult it becomes. REALITY - Most people have no idea, apart from their own view, they have perhaps written one or two or seen a few during their job role.......this isn't a professional CV Writer. THE ANSWER - Research who the best individual CV Writers are who are having success, then get them to teach you. BUT - Stick to their CV process! A great CV Writer will have a structure, a flow, a natural conclusion to the CV, one that is easy to understand. By doing this, you will gain confidence, you will block out everything else that is confusing and you will then begin backing your CV and it's quality. A good gauge of whether your CV is good enough is to look at it and if you think this is brilliant, then it will be, if you are thinking I am not sure, then it isn't good enough. 📄 - The FTG can do this with you, there is no cost, we will give you the tools needed and you will then create a document you are proud of and confident it will hit its target. https://lnkd.in/eD4rGRYe - Book Here BLOCK OUT THE FOG SURROUNDING CVs, THEN YOU WILL SEE YOUR STORY CLEARLY! Be The Master of One Hunter 🐺 Serve Well, Leave Well and Flourish!

Determining the requirements of a military asset years ahead of its delivery requires a deep understanding of the emergent threat and the technology required to counter it. Our personnel have the knowledge to objectively write requirements and then assess a project’s delivery against those requirements in a considered and concise manner. This has resulted in us delivering programme and requirements management for the UK Typhoon, Lightning F-35B and a number of ISR platforms. #Inzpire #DefenceIndustry #DefenseIndustry #Aerospace #AerospaceIndustry #MilitaryTraining #DefenceTraining #Defence #Defense #DefenceCapability #DefenseCapability #ProgrammeManagement #ProgrammeDevelopment #RequirementsManagement #RequirementsAnalysis #RequirementsEngineering #ConceptDevelopment https://ow.ly/wTpl50QoOxh

Forces Transition Group Ltd - We have been overwhelmed with The FREE Scrum and Agile Courses Available in the SW and Midlands. For the moment, we have now turned off these courses so that we can get everyone called and onto their relative qualification. PLEASE DONT EMAIL IN, BUT WE WILL BE INCREASING THE OPPORTUNITY SOONEST! The need for quality is clearly there, so we are going to look at maximising many areas for you and bring you lots of differing qualifications suitable for the world's you will be going into. Today we have another meeting to discuss how all of this can be made possible, to enhance the speed of the process, and give everyone so much more opportunity. The FTG way is to understand your DIRECTION first, if you are contemplating what courses you want to do, think about the impact it will have on your future and the arena you are going into. Don't just follow the herd mentality of your mates are doing these courses, so I think I will do them as well. This is a waste of your time, your energy and your money if you are paying for courses. We ask many Service Leavers after they have left whether they have used their courses in their job roles and the majority answer with a NO, which means we are doing courses for the sake of it. Be pinpointed, be clever, understand you, your future, and do the required qualifications that will make you more employable. https://lnkd.in/eR_dR5F2 The link above takes you to many of our trusted partners, and many courses on here are completely free. Today we will begin adding more with the addition of IOSH, NEBOSH, CITB, FIRST AID etc. We also have reduced prices for Prince 2 which is worth looking at too. Qualifications are something we are looking at as an area we can improve, in the coming weeks we will begin getting you access to lots more quality. So, why not check this area out, you will see growth and you will see the areas we are looking at to grow for you. Be The Hunter 🐺 but be clever when it comes to your education. Serve Well, Leave Well and Flourish!

Good Friday Afternoon network. As you are aware I was fortunate enough to sit on a panel at the recent #Milfest2024 event where we discussed the importance of businesses having the Armed Forces as a key element of their DE&I and hiring strategies. As part of the panel, there were some learnings that emerged that may be of interest for you to ponder: o Skills-based hiring - Skills and experiences gained in the Armed Forces are wholly transferrable to operating business environments. If we are heading toward the era of skills-based hiring, what better place to start? o Translation of skills - Part of the challenge for our Armed Forces is in simplifying and explaining what they have done across their military career, so employers can appreciate the skills and experiences they can leverage and benefit from. If employers are serious about fishing in the ex-military talent pool, then having programmes and support mechanisms that can help with this translation would accelerate employment opportunities o Box ticking vs. genuine transferability - Whilst ticking the recruitment box and showing that businesses are hiring from the Armed Forces talent pool is a great start, when that talent lands into a business, they will need structured induction and acclimatisation programmes that can help them become operationally effective at pace o Perception is sometimes not reality - There may be preconceived and historically driven perceptions that exist across business relating to our Armed Forces communities that are just not true. As an example: A talented individual who has spent their Military career in an Infantry Regiment would not be suitable for a career in tech/software. Not necessarily true. Many of our talented service personnel invest huge amounts of time, energy, and effort in investing in themselves, and many are self-taught around key industry skills, they may just not have a formal qualification. So, it’s important to look beyond the CV o Value to your business – Our Armed Forces talent operate across extreme environments when deployed on operations. This gives them huge personal resilience and an ability to cope with significantly stressful environments. They must also lead across multiple differing scenarios, they must win hearts and minds to get stuff done, and they must be very outcome orientated. Would you want someone in your business who has these valuable attributes? Of course you would. If you do not have an Armed Forces ED&I and hiring strategy, you should seriously consider building one. As someone who is hugely passionate about supporting our Armed Forces into civilian life and on into business, I would be delighted to have a chat with you if any of the above resonates with you and your business.
