Every tech founder want cash (nothing new here) 😂 Cash comes in many ways: - Revenues - the best form - Equity finance - Debt - Grants I (https://deallite.uk) sit on investor data with relationships built over a long time. Whilst I (Deal Lite) share this data through monthly subscriptions, I avoid investor introductions at all cost due to a number of reasons. I'm currently evaluating a light weight approach of investor introductions for Techcelerate members. Deal Lite also has the ability to include live fundraisers. Just wondering whether there is sufficient demand for us to create a product related service. It could look like below (not finalised - very early research): Product: - Listing on https://deallite.uk (company needs to keep us up to date so the data remain live) - Pitch deck sent to us for a quick review and inclusion with above. Service: For personal introductions, you would need to follow additional process: - Join Techcelerate as a Member. - Build credibility and trust within our community - Sign an agreement on light weight fundraising - Make introductions Of course, I would chat with Stuart Scott-Goldstone to understand legal ramifications. Whatever decided, it has to be a very light weight product related solution to ensure a decent quality of service. No decision has been taken. Just researching at present. The biggest problem faced by fashion retailers right now is not CAC. Sure the fact CAC has doubled or tripled is a huge problem. The reality though is when you walk through your local mall or browse online, you will find lots of winter stock. 🧥Trenches, jackets, knits, jumpers… Yes there is an opportunity to sell this stock to the few Australians heading off off for a white Christmas ❄️, however, the reality is most of your customers are thinking about their summer wardrobes right now. For retailers this aging inventory results in less cash cycled through the business and available to invest in the next range. How can you avoid this happening? While getting demand planning right is the first step, it is not the only step. It is important during the colder months to make sure all winter clothing is receiving air time in advertising, merchandising, social media, creatives and owned media. We see so many brands only giving attention to 10-20% of the range. This results in a long tail of products that need to be sold at deep discounts or won’t sell at all. What needs to change? Marketing teams needs to work with product teams with real time data to make sure sell through is happening across the full range. If it isn’t happening they need to assess why and take immediate action. Ignoring this leads to margin erosion, dead inventory, lost profits and less cash in the bank to reinvest! Want to single handedly kill innovation? Make the juice not worth the squeeze. The UK is planning to do just that. I recently learned what is being proposed in the UK for our latest budget. 1.) Capital Gain Tax 18% -> Inline with income tax (est. 45%) - doubled. Okay, we're going to make it even more difficult to get funding, to incentivise investors (at later stage). We're going to make sure no one ever dreams of listing on LSE and goes to Nasdaq. This also impacts employees who have been awarded shares/options, your "big pay out" after joining a company long-term is getting attacked. 2.) Entrepreneurs relief 10% -> inline with income tax (est. 45%) - 3.5x!? Now we're going to punish you for creating jobs, paying tax anyway and then de-incentivise you to ever dream of building one in the first place. The UK is/was one of the forefronts of technology and industrialisation. In one fell swoop, if approved, this will absolutely wreck the future of innovation. I am appalled and am genuinely reconsidering re-registering every business interest because of this. It's disgusting.
