What is the true value of DEI initiatives? In a recent podcast episode of our CIPS Futures Podcast, my co-host Emma and I had the opportunity to chat with CIPS’ head of global trustees, Alison Barto. We had a wonderful chat – I’d recommend you give it a listen. One of the topics we spoke about was whether Alison had experienced any hurdles getting into procurement due to her gender. I won’t rehash what she’s said, as I think it’s best heard in her own voice, but I’d like to chat about something that struck me while chatting with her. A greater diversity in leadership, management, and the workforce doesn’t “just” improve creativity, agility, communication, and so forth… It removes barriers for others who follow in your footsteps. What Alison – and so many others – did by cracking that glass ceiling was to show the world: “Yes! We can!” Regardless of biases, unconscious attitudes, or even outright discrimination – they’ve made it easier for the rest of us to follow. So, to Alison, and all the rest – thank you. You’ve shown how DEI can identify and remove barriers we didn’t know existed – until you smashed them. #Procurement #SupplyChain #Leadership

In life, we're surrounded by networks—some lift us up, while others drag us down. Let's talk about the Poverty Network: a trio of characters—doomsayers, doubters and distractors. The Doomsayer: Always predicting the worst, they thrive on spreading fear and uncertainty. Pandemics, lockdowns—you name it, they've got a prediction for it. The Doubter: Constantly questioning your abilities, they'll tell you that you're not cut out for success. Like a small lion, they say, how can you rule the jungle? The Distractor: The worst of the bunch, they'll do anything to divert your focus. Whether it's governments, politicians, or influencers, they're all after their own agenda, not your success. To surge forward, you need laser-like focus. Cut out the distractions, silence the doubters, and ignore the doomsayers. Keep your eyes on the prize, and success will follow. Fascinating data in here though to highlight the importance of #Equity #Data and #Stories to help further impact…. including ‘only 30 years of women’s health data recorded in clinical trials’ (1994 btw!) and there’s 5* more research on a condition that affects 19% of men compared to 90% of women. #digital #health
