For someone working in the Finance department, shunning accounting qualifications (such as ICAEW, ACCA and CIMA) and claiming that your experience will be enough, is fine if you’re happy chugging away doing similar jobs for the whole of your career.... But, if you have any ambition or desire to be a leader in Finance or business... ... there’s a big mindset question involved this question of qualifications. Further, many accountants are fine going for a qualification until they fail exams a few times and it takes a few years... Then they’re tempted to wonder whether ‘qualified by experience’ will be a better option. Again, the way you approach that question – your mindset – is probably the most important thing to be aware of in deciding whether to give up on exams. https://lnkd.in/gqmeYtz #finance #careers #financeleadership #cfo #acca #icaew #cima #financeprofessional

So the rumours are true: Windsor Framework changes scheduled for 30 September are now delayed until 31 March 2025. Sound familiar? #windsorframework #customs #northernireland #parcels Crowe UK Jamie Mcleod Rob Janering Dear customer, The Windsor Framework establishes a new set of arrangements for the movement of goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland via both parcels and freight. The government is fully committed to implementing the Windsor Framework in good faith and protecting the UK’s internal market. There has been extensive work already in preparing for these arrangements to take effect. However, as our ongoing engagement with you has recognised, several events since then, including the General Election and the pre-election period, have impacted on the preparations of traders and the border industry. We recognise that more time will therefore be required to ensure full readiness for the new arrangements; and acknowledge the challenges posed for systems changes by the peak period over the Christmas period will constrain the ability to make detailed systems changes. As such, the new arrangements under the Windsor Framework for parcels and freight movements that were envisaged to come into effect from 30 September 2024 will now not take effect on this date. While we will provide further information on the detailed timeline for the coming into effect of the new arrangements in due course, businesses should be fully prepared for them by 31 March 2025. Over the next few months, we will continue to work with you to ensure you are ready for when the arrangements take effect in 2025. It will be important that this work intensifies to ensure that implementation is smooth and that businesses are fully prepared. This will include webinars, with specific webinars for businesses moving parcels, and ongoing support through the Trader Support Service (TSS) for freight movements. The TSS will continue to be available throughout 2025 to support your transition to the new Windsor Framework arrangements. Further information can be found on GOV.UK. We’ll shortly update our guidance on GOV.UK to reflect this and you will receive further information. In the meantime, please continue to check GOV.UK for any updates. Yours faithfully HM Revenue and Customs

Reward card schemes are gaining attention, but all that glitters is not gold, especially regarding tax clearance. At RJF, clients often ask us about these, and our stance is clear: if there's no explicit HMRC approval, it's best to avoid it. Got questions about a scheme you've encountered? Leave a comment or send me a message. #Business #Startup #LeanStartups

I've posted a lot about the developments that have increased the remit of payroll since 1911, and it is good to see that the challenges of new legislation has been ever-present, and payrollers have been consistently resilient in the face of this. It is also clear that the level of responsibility for payrolls teams only looks likely to increase, from initially handling #NIC, to implementing #PAYE, handling #StudentLoans and now being involved in #pension, #BenefitsInKind, the direction of movement is definitely towards an expansion of the remit of payroll. I suspect that in the coming years this will intertwine with #HR, with increasing complexity around #HolidayPay, #CondensedWorkingHours or #4dayweeks. This #NationalPayrollWeek it is worth thinking about how the role of the payroll professional has expanded, and how much of an important role this function serves for almost every employer in the UK.
