Is AI the new Dot Com bubble? Having met a new challenger software company last week whose old-school competitors are desperately plastering AI and ML all over their marketing campaigns when, in fact, they're offering nothing of the sort...it seems so. Of course, as we know, the internet did change the world, but the marketing hype by companies who weren't offering anything substantially new in the late 90s/early noughties was unreal - hence the burst. 👋 Fellow Business Owners, I might have a little tip/perk for you here 👌😎 Are you running a substantial amount of money through your Google Ads and bills online? Same here. Back in April, we assessed our P&L at Damteq® and wondered if we could find a way of at least getting something out of the stuff we pay out. Looking at a few things, we settled for an Amex card. We’ve managed to setup 18 of our pieces of software, our paid advertising accounts, almost a few other things. With an Amex card, you don’t have a credit limit, you just earn the right to spend more as you grow your account. The points we’ve collated already are insane. And we have a direct debit setup to pay it off in full each month. Ultimately we were paying for it anyway, so we’re just passing the money through American Express. Along with this you get a load of other perks. In August we used the airport lounge free of charge. ✈️ In just three months our points collected amount to around £2,000. 💰 You can convert the points into air miles, Amazon gift cards, TUI gift cards (free holiday woo) almost loads of other perks. We’ve found it amazing so far. I’d say it would be great if: 1. You spend a consistent and regular amount on things like software a month 2. You spend a minimum of £5k-£10k plus a month on paid ads Obviously everyone’s circumstances are different so you need to make the right choice for your business. You can also add employees to it, and they farm your points too 😎 And you really need to pay it off every month. We aren’t using this as a credit card as such and have no intention to do so. This is one of the biggest issues #hiring within the #digitalcommerce space. Having met with over 30 clients in the past two weeks every single client has got the same problem. They are receiving hundreds of applications from direct ads, and every person I have spoken has said less than 5% are relevant. That’s not less than 5% are spot on for the job, less than 5% RELEVANT in any way! I’ve put together a calculator that estimates just how much a business can lose if it has its team sifting through hundreds of irrelevant CVs, and Interviewing 10's of irrelevant people I appreciate a recruitment fee can be a big chunk impacting your cash flow (I have ways to help here, too), but there are many occasions right now where using a good recruiter, that understands the market you are in, is actually more cost-effective. In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements.
