Firstly, by assessing how the environment is connected with the economy. Firstly, by assessing how the environment is connected with the economy. And secondly, by looking at how investment and support for the greening of the economy will translate into growth and green jobs. However, this potential is questioned and critics provide reasons for why a transition to a green economy is not as good as advocates propose. Both advocate and critic provide good reasons for why we should or should not lean towards a green economy. The issues of measurement and definition are explored.

As researchers have learned more about the role and expectations of business in society, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become an increasingly important area of study in business. This article provides a review of literature, business models, frameworks and theories relating to the shift in the perception of businesses role in society and the increasing challenges that managers now face as a result of increased CSR activity.
It concludes that the perception of the role of business in society has witnessed a significant shift from that of the theories of Milton Friedman during the 1970s, to the present day, whereby business is now viewed as a significant player in society. As a consequence, CSR activities within a Multi National Corporation have increased, resulting in greater expectations of managers to make challenging decisions based around CSR. The paper analyses the shift of CSR in society and the impact that this has had on management.
