She is a Biomedical Engineer with over 5 years of experience in the medical device industry, specialising in service, support and product reliability. 🧬 James Davies, PhD: James has a PHD in Systems Immunology, a Master of Research (MRes) in Biomedical Science and is a Fellow at University College London. He has worked at leading companies, including Prescient Healthcare Group, Seven Bridges Genomics and Velsera. 📰 Kate Melsom: With a career spanning over 16 years in the graphic design industry, Kate has passionately championed strong, clear, and positive communication working as a Consultant across a range of startups as well as larger organisations. Marta Bleda Latorre, Head of Bioinformatics: 27 human genes have had to be renamed, all because Microsoft Excel kept misreading their symbols as dates. We’re happy to say Microsoft fixed this issue last year. 2. Hannah Henshaw, People & Culture Assistant: The human genome has billions of pieces of information and around 22,000 genes, but not all of it is human! 8% of our DNA consists of remnants of ancient viruses. 🦠 3. Bryony Burrows, Chief Operational Officer: The cost of sequencing the first human genome was $3bn. In 2024, it's now nearer to only $100, making precision medicine a closer reality! 💉 4. Pablo Marin-Garcia, Bioinformatician: The mutation rate is about twice as high in male as in female meiosis, showing that most mutation occurs in males. 5. Marta Bleda Latorre, Head of Bioinformatics: The total length of DNA in your body is 219,684,972,000,000 feet.
