🎉 Proud to share this moment! At the 11:FS Awards, we were deeply honoured by the judges’ words on why ZERO13 won the Fintech for Good Award: "Of all the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, goal 13, Climate Action, is the most urgent and existential for life on earth. Reducing carbon emissions is fundamental to climate action, but that can only be done with a robust system for tracking carbon emissions. In a category full of strong entries, ZERO13 stood out by using a blockchain ledger to track carbon credits from reforestation projects initially in Kenya, helping to tackle the most fundamental existential crisis on earth." Watch the video to see the award acceptance by Hirander Misra, Chairman & CEO of ZERO13, and hear why Climate Action (SDG 13) drives our mission. We’re humbled to be recognised alongside impactful initiatives like ekko, Mifos Initiative, Conomy, and Tomorrow. #FintechForGood #ZERO13 #CarbonMarkets #Sustainability #11FSAwards #BlockchainForGood #ClimateAction #SDG13

Professor Lisa Wilson, representing the Green Bond Corporation and as Board Advisor to ZERO13, joined the “Rebuilding Trust in Voluntary Carbon Markets” panel at the Commodities Asia Summit by FT Live. Alongside industry leaders like Lorna Ritchie (Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market), Duncan van Bergen (Calyx Global), and Tommy Ricketts (BeZero Carbon), and moderated by Eleanor Olcott from Financial Times, the panel explored key challenges and opportunities for restoring faith in voluntary carbon markets🌱💼. 🔍With concerns over transparency, verification, and the efficacy of carbon offset projects, the discussion highlighted critical areas for improvement. The panel examined questions such as: What standards are needed to ensure integrity in carbon credits? How can we reduce reputational risks for investors prioritising direct abatement strategies? ZERO13 Board Advisor Lincoln T. also attended, engaging in other key sessions, including a keynote with Riham ElGizy, CEO of Voluntary Carbon Market, and a panel on buyer expectations for the carbon market's future. At ZERO13, we value the insights and collaborative discussions of industry experts on relevant topics, as these debates are crucial for advancing the quality, integrity, and impact of carbon markets✨. #ZERO13 #CarbonMarkets #Sustainability #ClimateAction #VoluntaryCarbonMarkets #CommoditiesAsiaSummit Hirander Misra

ZERO13 just wrapped up a fruitful Roundtable session in #Bangkok, #Thailand on 16th October 2024. Special thanks to iWise Group (IWG) Arunsak Jenarewong and the Thailand team for their amazing organisation and coordination. The event titled "Are Global Carbon Markets Ready to Take Off and What Does It Mean for Thailand?" set up good discussions with #sustainability professionals from KliK Foundation, Energy Absolute PCL (EA), Charoen Pokphand Group Co.,Ltd., Siam Cement Group (SCG), Mahidol University, Taokaenoi; United Nations ESCAP; just to name a few. The first practice of Paris Agreement's Article 6 in Asia took place in early 2024 when the Swiss-based KliK Foundation purchased the first Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcome (#ITMOs) from the Thai company Energy Absolute PCL (EA) for the Bangkok E-Bus Program. The deal involves the #ITMOs being transacted which were credited to the KliK Foundation's account in the Swiss Emissions Trading Registry. Therefore, it was great to hear the execution from those involved. National Climate Change Secretariat, Singapore has also stepped up to form carbon credit pacts in line with the Paris Agreement; concluding Implementation Agreements with Papua New Guinea #PNG and #Ghana. 🌏 During the Roundtable session, discussions centred on how #ITMOs could be a strategic tool for nations to not only comply with their climate commitments but also to leverage their resources effectively. Participants also posed questions on COP29 Azerbaijan and beyond, whether the Voluntary Carbon Markets (#VCMs) or the #ITMOs market is poised for growth. We also examined the potential and ways to move financial flows towards sustainable projects and spur innovation in carbon trading practices and also standards. Do watch this space as it demands attention from policymakers, businesses and environmental stakeholders alike, holding the promise of accelerating our collective journey towards a low-carbon future. #Article6 #carbon #carboncredits #COP29 #decarbonization #ParisAgreement #ZERO13 #iWise #ITMOs #sustainability #climatechange #Singapore
