Net Positive Hospitality in-action! Congratulations to Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA and the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory who today launched its ‘basic housekeeping skills training programme’ for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). The program stems from a meaningful visit to the facility in November 2023, during which Park Inn by Radisson donated pillows that were repurposed as toy stuffing. Inspired by this experience, the hotel developed a sustainable initiative to offer practical training in housekeeping, giving the women the tools to seek employment and reintegrate into society. We’re delighted our employability Housekeeping Curriculum is being used by Park Inn by Radisson to ensure the training adheres to international hospitality standards. To support the hands-on learning approach, a Park Inn Standard Room was constructed within the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory, allowing the trainees to practice and apply the skills they learn in a real-life setting. The Quezon City Skills and Livelihood Foundation, through a TESDA-certified trainer, will conduct the training. We’ll be providing updates on this programme on here and in our podcast.

If #foodloss and #waste were a country, it would be second in the world for driving #GHGemissions - behind only #China. According to the IPCC, #foodwaste and loss generates 8-10% of global #greenhousegas (#GHG) emissions - almost five times the total #emissions from the #aviation sector - and recent studies have suggested that this figure could be even higher. In fact, it’s estimated that 40% of the global #foodsupply is lost or wasted, to the tune of 2.5 billion tons of #food per year - even as nearly 1 in 3 people worldwide faces moderate or severe #foodinsecurity. Just six years remain to achieve #SDG Target 12.3, which calls for halving food loss and waste worldwide by 2030. At this juncture, #SDG123 is fast becoming out of reach given the imbalance between global action and the scale of the challenge. The world is at a fork in the road. Unless a slew of companies and countries prioritise food loss and waste reduction, SDG 12.3 will be unachievable. As a result, we will have missed one of the best opportunities to build a resilient #foodsystem for generations. It’s hard to create change when you’re seemingly alone in fighting for a cause. That’s why every company must identify at least one area where they can have an #impact, and do what they can to #reducefoodloss and waste in that hotspot. Together, many #smallactions will add up to a big impact. Access more #guidance on how your company can target - measure - act: https://lnkd.in/ewHNt-_K Today, Champions 12.3 will host its annual public event at #ClimateWeekNYC, when the coalition will release a #report on the state of food loss and waste worldwide and announce a new initiative to address #farmlosses. Our #CEO, Glenn Mandziuk, will be taking part in the event - representing our #globalnetwork and the #hospitalityindustry as a whole.
