#ClimateWeekNYC has been a whirlwind of events, panels, meetings and action. And to quote Dr Stephen Richardson, ‘The energy at the events has been infectious!’. So, what are some of the themes we have explored? 🏠 How to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). We joined a workshop with High-Level Climate Champions and WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development discussing ways to accelerate action linked to the new COP29 climate-proofing SMEs campaign. Why? Because SMEs often fall through the gaps. Find out how big corporates can support SMEs in #BuildingTheTransition here: https://lnkd.in/diFB5hMX 🏛️ What is a successful driver of emissions reductions? Policy change. Businesses can join collaborative advocacy efforts to increase policy ambition like those led by our Green Building Councils: https://lnkd.in/dN49h5TE 💰 How can government play a role in stimulating the flow of private capital? Public money isn’t enough, so initiatives must be designed for the long term to give business the confidence to invest and time to ramp up capacity. Fiscal stimulus initiatives like the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act can play a role in unlocking private investment in #decarbonisation: https://lnkd.in/gxDJznfx Thank you to those who contributed to a successful #ClimateWeekNYC and to our partners: Breakthrough Agenda, Carrier, Climate Group, Grimshaw, Laudes Foundation, IKEA Foundation, Saint-Gobain, We Mean Business Coalition, World Economic Forum (Green Building Consortium and Circularity Lighthouse), U.S. Green Building Council, Holcim, Heidelberg Materials, Signify, Arup, C40 Cities and Urban Partners, amongst others.
