Teaching is one of the most vital professions in our society, it's also one of the most challenging roles. Today, on #WorldTeacherDay, we’re saying thanks to the incredible teachers we work with across England and Wales, with a special shout-out to our colleagues Claire McMaster, Roxie Ford, and Aimee Vickery, and trustee Sufian Sadiq (who all bring their years of classroom experience and insights to our programmes at Working Options). If you happen to be at the National Education Show in Cardiff today, you’ll see Roxie and Aimee sporting their Working Options in Education lanyards (so please feel free to say hello).

Helping all young people to know their options, to find their careers.
About us
Every young person deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential. However, persistent inequities contribute to youth unemployment, highlighting the crucial need of our programmes to help young people to explore their options and find their careers. Established in October 2019, our purpose is clear: to help young people aged 14-19 to create positive futures for themselves. We focus on creating positive pathways by providing essential career opportunities and nurturing vital life skills. These include increasing awareness of their own skills, fostering a growth mindset, inspiring higher career aspirations, building resilience, enhancing their sense of agency, and promoting awareness of career pathways aligned with their interests. Our approach is hands-on and personalised. Dedicated volunteers, supported by our team, share impactful stories and conduct skills-based workshops in schools and educational settings, equipping young people with practical skills for their future. Beyond school engagements, we organise immersive events in business settings, offering young people – often their first – in-depth experience of the world of work. Our impact extends online, where our curated digital content reaches millions of young people, delivering compelling career stories and practical insights. Central to enabling our aim is our network of partner companies. Through these collaborations, we connect young people with diverse career paths, ensuring equitable access to opportunities, and helping them realise their talent. Looking ahead, our ambition is to remove all barriers to social mobility across the UK, having a positive impact on equality, diversity, and inclusion. We envision a society where every school has access to quality careers information and where employers adopt innovative approaches to talent recruitment, fostering a more inclusive workforce. Contact us to find out how you can make a difference.

It is all about sharing invaluable insights that can help to empower young people to take their next steps with confidence.
Today i attended the The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI) event, where me and a few other students had the amazing opportunity to network with industry professionals and explore different career paths hosted by Working Options in Education 🎓 💼 At this age you're considering university, an apprenticeship, or still figuring out your next steps, it can be quite challenging and overwhelming but i found that in this event i gained valuable insights and i was able to narrow down the decisions i wanted to take in the future. Thank you to the CISI and all the amazing people I had the opportunity to talk to Najma Ibrahim Amos Dadzie Haider Malik Sushant Chudal Cert CII Andre Martin-Comrie Sue Maskrey Claire McMaster Sebastian-Laurentiu Tataru #Networking #CareerDevelopment #CISI #FinanceIndustry #Students #University #apprenticeships

Don't let career choices haunt you, be as happy as this little guy. This Halloween, some of our partners are creating some spooktacular bakes to share, sell and enjoy with their teams – raising funds to support our work with young people so they can make career decisions with confidence, not fear. If you'd like to get involved, please DM Maria Theodosiou, and we can conjure up a JustGiving page for the day and also share our favourite spooky treat recipes with you for inspiration. And if this fundraiser isn't your trick-or-treat, honestly not to worry, we look forward to partnering with you in other ways in the future.

'This was all and more than I could've asked for!' Thanks go to Marsh for welcoming students from Notre Dame School, London, to their office, providing an inspiring insight into the world of insurance and risk management. Today’s post is from Maria Theodosiou in our Partnerships Team, who’s still buzzing about Thursday's Taster Day ... 'From conversations with staff about their career journeys to experiencing the views of the Tower of London, Thursday was truly memorable. It was fantastic to learn more about Marsh's commitment to supporting young talent through their programmes. Hearing how one of the CEOs of the MMC Group started as an apprentice was a great source of encouragement for our students, showing just how far dedication can take you within an industry. The students left feeling empowered, having learned so much. Here's what they told me they got from the day: • Applying for work experience, now they see how helpful it is, • The importance of communication skills and teamwork, • How to develop inquisitiveness and explore different career paths, • The vast range of roles available in this industry. This experience has already impacted their next steps, with students motivated to dive deeper into their research and future career options. I want to say huge thanks to the tutors for helping make the day happen and to all of the Marsh team for making the session so welcoming (including) Olivia Searle, Jayne Stevens, Allan Acquah, Nikita Popat, Pratham Bhat, Veronica Sorensen, Elizabeth Shaw, Christophe Pun Sin and Andrew Hunt ACII.' If you'd like to find out how you can welcome young people into your workplace, DM (Maria Theodosiou) or email [email protected].

When I’m not working or studying, you can find me volunteering my time and or skills helping others and making impact, so imagine my answer when Working Options in Education invited me to empower and mentor future leaders. Ofcourse I said yes☺️ I would be going into these young students schools to offer them insights into the career world, help them develop employability skills, deliver interactive workshops, provide practical tips and share my own career journey with its challenges and opportunities. As someone who came to the UK as an international student and had to start from the scratch again with so much uncertainties and starting a new career, I have had my fair share of struggles but how I’ve navigated it, is what is important and I hope to impact these students from a unique perspective. #TransformingLives #CareerDevelopment #Mentor #Volunteering #Education

Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation 🙌 That's why Evie Gretton recently joined the NCVO's 'Good Practice in Volunteer Management' course, taking away a host of insights we're now looking to put into practice. 💡Developing a volunteer toolkit to ensure our volunteers get all of the support they need. 💡Mapping out a new volunteer onboarding roadmap to make the process as straightforward as possible. 💡Emphasising our flexibility from the start - we understand the diverse challenges volunteers face and want them to feel empowered to join us. Huge thanks to NCVO – these learnings will help us enhance the experience our amazing volunteers deserve. What else can make volunteering more rewarding? Share your thoughts in the comments. ______ Find out more about volunteering with Working Options in Education (which is already an amazing process ... even if we do say so ourselves) here = https://lnkd.in/d3S5AuXZ
