Improving gender balance, equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK rail industry.

About us

Women in Rail (WR), a charity founded in 2012, comprises men and women from the UK railway sector, working together alongside major stakeholders in the industry to support the development, promotion and attraction of women in the UK railway sector and, more broadly, improve gender balance, equality, diversity and inclusion in rail. WR holds regular networking events and development workshops across the UK through its 8 regional groups and runs a very successful cross-industry mentoring programme where both female and male mentees receive guidance from more senior industry professionals to support them in their professional development, personal growth and confidence. WR currently has 5,000 members representatives of all grades and roles and a wide range of companies within the UK rail industry. WR’s head office is in London with regional groups across the UK including Scotland, North West, Yorkshire, Wales, West Midlands, East Midlands, London and the South West. Membership of Women in Rail is free. To find out more about the Charity and to sign up to become a member, visit: http://womeninrail.org/

South Asian Heritage Month is a celebration of the impact of South Asian cultures, histories, and communities on the United Kingdom. The month spans two key dates in South Asian history -18th July, when the Indian Independence Act 1947 gained royal assent from King George VI, to 17th August, when the Radcliffe Line was published in 1947, marking the borders between India, West Pakistan and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Events for our programmes focus on celebrating diversity in all forms, through dance, spoken word, poetry, music, film and other media. We have celebrated South Asian heritage through performances by The Bollywood Co. who have regularly featured in our Women in Rail events and aim to showcase Bollywood dance and other Indian dance styles in their truest, most authentic forms. Here is a snippet from one of their performances! #SouthAsianHeritageMonth #SAHM #Dance Rajinder Pryor MBE ( ਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਰ )
