“SMEs contribute 44% of the UK’s private sector greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, yet nine out of 10 don’t fully understand what the Government’s target of making the UK Net Zero by 2050 means for them and just one in ten businesses are measuring their carbon footprint.” Our SME group at WMG delivers the Net Zero Innovation Network (NZIN) programme for SMEs to help them realise the opportunities that are available by working towards Net Zero targets. Collaboration amongst each cohort of SMEs has proven effective to help solve their sustainability goals, deliver big energy savings as well as increase profitability. We are recruiting for the next cohort now. Read more about the NZIN project here: https://lnkd.in/eT28fS3y #NetZero #SME #Collaboration #NetZeroWeek #Sustainability WMG Business

About us
WMG is an academic department at the University of Warwick. Our research and education bridge the gap between academia and the public and private sectors, driving innovation across science, technology and engineering. WMG was founded by the late Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya in 1980 to help reinvigorate UK manufacturing and help businesses overcome barriers to innovation. WMG’s pioneering research and education programmes, in partnership with UK and global business, has helped to transform firms in sectors such as automotive, advanced manufacturing and digital technologies. Our track record makes us the first choice for global businesses looking to invest in new techniques, products and skills that have a real impact on economic growth, society, and the environment. WMG’s education programmes begin with schools, following through to undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our focus is on creating lifelong learning opportunities for global talent in partnership with industry. We provide a range of courses and education programmes, from the WMG Academies for Young Engineers, degree apprenticeships, undergraduate and postgraduate Master’s courses, through to professional programmes and research degrees. WMG’s postgraduate programmes have international reach, with many being offered with global partners, allowing us to share our knowledge with working professionals as well as full-time students in a local industrial and economic context.

It was great to see the Flame of Friendship torch, manufactured by T Level students here at WMG, cross the finish line at the University of Warwick. We spoke to Millie and Bailey, two of the T Level students, who helped bring the torch to life. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/er7pP83q #FlameOfFriendship #TLevels #Community
Over 700 school children and teachers from across Coventry came together at Warwick for the grand finale of our Flame of Friendship 🔥 Whilst the Olympic torch travels the world, the Flame of Friendship travelled across 63 schools, starting at Coventry Cathedral in February, and finishing at the finale event on campus. The custom-made torch was designed especially for this event as part of a competition for school children. The winning design - chosen from submissions by more than 2,000 children - from Finham Park School was then bought to life thanks to the team at WMG and T Level students from Rugby College. Dean of WMG, Professor Robin Clark; accompanied by our International Partnerships Manager, Nicole Craddock-Zhang; and our International Academic Director – China, Dr Dawei Lu, travelled to China recently for a series of high-profile meetings with key representatives from higher education, industry and government. The trip was a crucial part of WMG’s strategy to help future collaboration and drive innovation in the country. Commenting on the trip, Professor Robin Clark, said: “It was great to return to Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou after the pandemic. We strengthened WMG’s relationship with higher education partners, industries as well as government agencies that support our strategies. “I was particularly pleased to be able to meet the alumni communities too, their enthusiasm was infectious. They were glad to see us, and they have proven to be great ambassadors in the industries they now work in, continuing to make an impact as part of the WMG vision.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eJ5Cm6kS #WMGAlumni #China #Partnerships Beijing City University; East China University of Science and Technology; Nanjing University of Science and Technology; GEELY
