Welcome to Williams Racing, competing in Formula One since 1977. #WeAreWilliams
About us
Williams is one of the world’s leading Formula One teams. It exists purely to race in the top echelon of motor racing, where it’s been winning grands prix for more than three decades. The Williams name has been synonymous with top-level motorsport since the 1960s. After running teams on the sport’s nursery slopes, team patron Frank Williams founded Frank Williams (Racing Cars) in 1966 and he entered F1 in 1969 with his friend Piers Courage behind the wheel. Frank quickly earned a reputation as one of the industry’s more determined individuals and after selling his controlling interest in his original team, he established Williams Grand Prix Engineering with British engineer Patrick Head in 1977. They built their first car, the FW06, the following year and the team immediately went from strength-to-strength. Williams is now the third most successful team on the grid.

Giving fans unforgettable up-close experiences and teaming up with our partners in creative and innovative ways is at the heart of our approach at Williams. A perfect example? Alex Albon doing donuts for huge São Paulo crowds in the Gulf-liveried FW45 last weekend - another milestone in the successful partnership between Williams Racing and Gulf Oil International Group. It was another outing for the ‘Bolder than Bold’ special livery which raced in Singapore, Japan and Qatar last year after more than 180,000 fans voted in our award-winning campaign. As Alex said: “Williams and Gulf share a special partnership, both with rich heritage, so it’s exciting to be a part of something that brings the sport to life for those around us.” #HistoryInTheMaking

The partnership between Komatsu and Williams Racing is built on foundations of heritage, success and synergy. Not many people know this better than Jim Barker, the team’s Heritage Car Build Manager, who worked directly on the iconic FW18 and FW19 machines of the late 1990s that contained Komatsu gearbox componentry. Enjoy the history of Komatsu and Williams Racing’s world championship glory, as we start writing a new chapter in the story of the partnership. https://lnkd.in/gQygJATZ https://lnkd.in/gCbi4S6a #komatsu #creatingvaluetogether #partnership #komatsuglobal #KomatsuWilliams
