At Wickes, we're big on what matters and we're looking forward to collaborating with our peers and suppliers to collectively reduce our impact
We are delighted to announce that six of our leading members: Kingfisher plc, OBI Group Holding, Kesko - K-Group, Wickes, Maxeda DIY Group, and Intergamma have become the first signatories to the seminal Global Scope 3 Decarbonisation Commitment. The EDRA/GHIN Global Scope 3 Decarbonisation Commitment which was launched at 10th Global DIY-Summit in Rome on 12 June 2024, entails the setting of net zero decarbonisation targets within the next two years, aligned to the Paris Agreement, as well as collaborating with suppliers to set their own net zero decarbonisation targets within five years. Sarah Dauncey, PhD's summary of our #FlexForAll webinar today...
It was brilliant to launch 'Flexible working for all' this morning with Astrid Allen from the Institute for Employment Studies at a webinar alongside our expert panellists, Louise Tait, ANDREA WILLIAMS-MCKENZIE CBE and Ben Franklin. And truly energising to be among people so committed to the value of flexible working and to making it a reality for everyone. Thanks to all for joining and contributing questions and challenge! Here are some of my key takeaways: ▪ With a new government committed to flexibility by default, our report on giving frontline workers greater autonomy and control over their working patterns is timely. ▪ Leadership teams need to be engaged and see the value of flexible working, for people and their organisation. ▪ Avoid making assumptions about how employees want to work. Consult them! Ensure they're involved in the process of organising new ways of working. ▪ Communicate clearly about any changes to ways of working, this is especially vital for inclusion. ▪ Job quality is a pressing issue given rising economic inactivity, driven by poor health, and an aging population. Flexibility is important to open work to more people. ▪ Experiment! Even in the most operationally challenging roles such as nursing, it is possible to introduce greater flexibility. You can read our full report sharing insights and findings from our journey with three employers - Wickes, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Sir Robert McAlpine - here: https://lnkd.in/gWATMfa7 #FlexForAll #FlexibleWorking #JobQuality #Inclusion #FutureOfWork

Last week, we had our third '50p ask' of the year. Thanks to our amazing colleagues who went above and beyond to help raise funds for our partner charity The Brain Tumour Charity. We'd like to thank our generous customers who helped us raise £97,000 in just one week. This brings our total amount raised for The Brain Tumour Charity to £1,200,000 so far! #lifeatwickes

In recognition of Labour’s general election victory, our teams had a bit of fun and are excited to offer a timely reminder to a particular house mover this weekend. Our ‘New Cabinet?’ Wickes campaign created by St Luke's London will run for one day and we’re here to ensure that everyone, including the new occupant of No.10, can create a kitchen that reflects their style and budget.

We were thrilled to attend the British LGBT Awards last Friday night. We were up for Employer or Inclusive Company of the Year, and our very own Ben Jackson was up for Trailblazer of the Year. Congratulations to Tesco and Laks Mann MBE as the winners in these categories. We're proud to have been recognised in the official Top 12. We're making great progress for our LGBTQ colleagues, and we're grateful to our Pride Network for ensuring our LGBTQ colleagues have the #freedomtobe #lifeatwickes #britishlgbtawards #awards

We have the Freedom to be and that's how we all thrive at Wickes. It's been 3 months since we launched our new flexible working policy for all colleagues. In celebration of Flexible Working Day, we caught up with colleagues around the business to see how it's been going. This is what they had to say #flexibleworking
