200 Years of Fettercairn, 200 Years of Imagination. Doing things differently has been a part of the Fettercairn DNA, since it all began in 1824. In pursuit of our distinctively tropical style single malt whisky, we're proud to say that we've always gone our own way. By the people, for the people. Slainte Mhàth on this special anniversary. #WhyteAndMackay #Fettercairn

Last Wednesday at Whyte & Mackay we celebrated the completion of our summer internship programme. We'd like to thank every single one of the participants for their hard work over the twelve-week period and wish all of them every success in the future. Four of our interns will be staying on with Whyte & Mackay full-time, which is a testament to their dedication throughout the scheme. We'd also like to recognise the ongoing support that our managers and colleagues provide to the programme. It wouldn't be possible without their enthusiasm and generosity. A special thank you to Niamh B. for organising the internship programme, and to Fiona Gibson for speaking at the graduation. Shackleton is a contemporary whisky brand uniquely steeped in history. It is a whisky we take great pride in, as a modern recreation of an iconic antique blend. To bolster team spirit on his Antarctic expedition (Nimrod, 1907), Sir Ernest Shackleton personally ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky. In 2007, a century after the expedition, three cases of the perfectly preserved whisky were discovered, frozen into the ice beneath Shackleton’s base camp at Cape Royds. The whisky was excavated and flown to New Zealand where it was carefully thawed by the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust in a purpose-built environment and public gallery at Canterbury Museum. After its discovery frozen in the ice, world-renowned Master Blender, Richard Paterson, carried out a painstaking analysis to re-create this antique whisky, alongside our production specialists at Invergordon Distillery, and used this as the foundation to create Shackleton – a whisky with ice in its DNA. #whyteandmackay

Acorn to Glass - Episode 3 - Raw Materials In the foothills of the Cairngorm mountain range is Tomnavoulin, the village home to around 40 residents and Tamnavulin Distillery. The distillery is located deep in the heart of Speyside, the most celebrated whisky-producing region in Scotland. Home to over half of Scotland’s operating malt whisky distilleries, Speyside is the perfect location to produce whisky. The unique microclimate of the region makes it a very temperate area of Scotland. This, combined with the abundance of rich farmland, makes it an ideal place to grow barley and mature whisky. Leon Webb, Distillery Manager at Tamnavulin Distillery, takes us through the importance of raw materials in the Whisky-production process. #WhyteAndMackay

Spirit of Speyside is one of the most anticipated festivals in the world of whisky. A moment for the world renowned whisky making region to celebrate what we do. Tamnavulin is a Speyside success story and the festival is the one moment in the year we open the doors to the whisky drinkers that have helped make it a firm favourite. Built in 1966, the Distillery takes its name from the Gaelic for ‘mill on the hill’, and was named after the historic woollen mill that sits adjacent. Tucked away on the edge of the River Livet, set on the bank of the Allt’ a Choire, the Distillery draws water from underground springs in the Easterton hills formed by snowmelt from the surrounding mountains. #WhyteAndMackay #Tamnavulin #SpiritOfSpeyside
