Say hello to James Rowe, who joined Which? as Video & Audio Content Creator in April. Before Which? James freelanced with Hits Radio North East, and worked at BBC Radio Newcastle and BBC Sport. Prior to that, and after graduating, he completed a one-year internship working at the University of Sunderland’s student radio station Spark and led the team to its first-ever Best Student Station win at the Student Radio Awards In the past James had benefited from much of the advice both on the Which? website, and digital channels including video and podcasts and wanted to have the opportunity to get involved. He works across both the video output on socials, as well as our three podcast brands Get Answers, Which? Shorts and Which? Money and has helped grow our podcast audience https://lnkd.in/ep6jkzeE. Each podcast is full of everyday advice, and provides a window into what listeners could be getting if they became a Which? Member. He says ‘I really enjoy bringing to life the work of my colleagues at Which?, and taking our crucial everyday advice to our social media and podcast audience. I always aim to invite more of our colleagues onto our podcasts so they are aware of the work the audio team is doing, but also so that their work reaches more people. This means that more people than ever can benefit from our work and improve their lives with our advice.’ You can see his first video for Which? here https://lnkd.in/ehXZT6_N, it achieved over 1 million views! #Culture #Values

Today, Which? has released research that paints a sobering picture of dealing with customer service in two crucial sectors - energy and broadband and the costs to consumers. https://lnkd.in/eYG-Gp-e Writing in the The i paper today Rocio Concha Galguera, Which? Director of Policy and Advocacy, says we expect to see poorly performing firms 'take meaningful action and we will continue to monitor their performance over the coming months to see if the situation for customers gets better. Because nobody deserves to be stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of emotional turmoil and financial loss due to poor customer service.' #CustomerServiceCounts

The Payment Systems Regulator has just slashed a new mandatory reimbursement limit for fraud victims that would have forced banks to provide better protections. The regulator has dramatically watered down vital new rules for firms to reimburse scam victims - slashing the proposed limit from £415,000 to £85,000. This comes just weeks before the new safeguards were due to come into effect. This is a complete betrayal of scam victims and caves to months of lobbying from firms that refuse to take fraud seriously. #Scams #APP #StampOutScams #Fraud

    • ‘This decision puts all of us at greater risk of being targeted by criminals because it reduces the incentives for banks and payments firms to take fraud prevention seriously.’

I'll be on BBC Panorama tonight talking about why you shouldn't always take supermarket 'deals' at face value. This subject is very close to our hearts at Which?: yes, special offers are great when they offer a genuine discount on a product you were intending to buy, but more often than not they mislead us about the scale of saving or tempt us into adding things to our trolley that weren't on our list - ultimately leading us to spend more, not less. The Panorama team also found that price-match promises aren't all they're cracked up to be, with Tesco sometimes using lower-quality products than the Aldi items they're price-matched against. This stuff really matters, and I'm glad these hard truths are being revealed on such a hugely watched and respected show. The programme is presented by the excellent Michelle Ackerley and produced by Luke Mendham, and also features expert insight from Kate Hardcastle MBE. Thanks to Alice Barnard and Emma Clarke from the Which? press team for their hard work behind the scenes. You can watch live at 8pm tonight or here on iPlayer: https://lnkd.in/etF_8_eP #supermarkets #consumernews #shopping #retail #panorama

Our latest research on Energy Performance Certificates revealed that consumers have a lack of trust in EPCs - with worries about the accuracy of estimated costs, unrealistic advice and perceived errors. Our research involved in-depth interviews and assessments of different EPC designs with 18 homeowners in England, Scotland and Wales. We believe EPCs could have a positive role in informing consumers about energy use in their properties and what they can do to reduce bills and cut carbon emissions, but reform is needed to make them more accessible, useful and accurate. #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #EPC
