    Yesterday Jen attended The Meetings Industry Association Connect Day at Cloth Hall Court at The University of Leeds.   An enjoyable day filled with engaging discussions around the hottest topics facing the industry, with excellent panel discussions and table sessions bringing these ideas to life 💡   It’s always great to get out and connect with other people in the industry, so a big thank you to MIA for organising the event!     And that's June over and out! We’re already getting settled into July, but before we go any further, we thought we’d look back at some of the brilliant things the simplybetter team got up to last month.   We travelled to Oslo with the SharkNinja team to deliver their exhibition stand at Elkjøp Campus. Then we popped back to Liverpool to help the Marshalls plc leaders deliver their Momentum Leadership event and Hull to help Reckitt with their Science Inside Symposium, before setting off down to Ascot to bring a bunch of ponies to the execs meeting as part of Gainsight's lavish CxO EMEA Summit.   With all that going on, it’s amazing that we managed to fit in two site visits – to Dublin and Barcelona – as well as a full team day and quarterly business update, resilience training with the great Mind in Bradford and volunteering at our local supermarket for The Immanuel Project.   All while keeping the pups away from our Team fuddle…   Phew!     We often talk about the simplybetter family, so we thought you might like to get to know them a little better. Here's one of our creative Copywriter, Rob Gilroy! Rob’s been with us for just under a year but in that time has brought a whole new skillset to our Creative team, supporting them on delivering high quality pitches and proposals. He also provides an additional element of important support to our events, helping craft the delegate comms journey to ensure attendees always feel well informed.     ❓ Did you know that the events industry is responsible for 10% of global CO2 emissions… ❓ It’s a lot. As much as we love this industry, it’s clear: events are wasteful. So, it’s important that we do our bit to create more sustainable events. Like the one we ran in May… Our client approached us to create an internal event that had three core objectives: 🌎 Make sustainable choices throughout the event design 🌎 Reduce, reuse and recycle materials where possible 🌎 Identify opportunities to minimise environmental impacts So, we set about doing that by implementing a range of sustainable measures, including working with a sustainably focused venue in Doncaster Racecourse and Exhibition Centre, building reusable assets, utilising energy efficient sets and lighting, arranging coaches to minimise travel emissions, using recyclable serveware and creating an event app and recyclable badges to reduce paper. Then, we tracked everything through TRACE, an award-winning carbon emissions platform created by isla, the events industry’s sustainability body. Doing that, allowed us to track all waste and emissions and the results were incredible: 🥇 85.2% of materials were reused, donated or repurposed 🥇 Only 6.4% of the total waste ended up at landfill And there’s still more we could do. Thankfully, we’re committed to delivering more responsible and sustainable events for our clients and the world.     Best Stand Design & Experience at this year's Euronics UK (CIH Ltd) Showcase 2024 🏆 Now that's an award we can be proud of... SharkNinja approached us to create an immersive stand for the event and we jumped at the challenge. With only a few weeks to turn our concepts into reality, we created a wrap around stand that brought attendees into the world of SharkNinja and their varied product range. The trick was finding the balance between a stand that was aesthetically pleasing while also creating an impact experience for delegates that felt both immersive and engaging. And the award would suggest we achieved that in spades! A huge well done to the whole team - we're excited to see what's next... 🌟 #CreativeEvents #BrandActivations #exhibitions

    We’ve been back at the checkouts this week with The Immanuel Project! Members of our amazing Project Team - Danni, Darcy, Ellie and Beth – were helping out at a local Tesco to raise awareness and donations for the great work being done by the Immanuel Project to support Bradford's vulnerable community. As one of our charity partners, it’s been an honour to support them not only with donations and fun events like our Dragon Boat racing, but with hands-on time from dedicated members of our team working closely with their tireless volunteers.     We don’t just deliver events; we ensure everything is planned with purpose and every element is executed effortlessly for everyone involved.   Recently, we helped the brilliant team at Arco: Experts In Safety deliver an inspiring and immersive internal strategy day at Doncaster Racecourse and Exhibition Centre. It took a lot of work to create something that truly engaged their team around the new brand strategy, but it seems as though it’s paid off, as we’ve received glowing feedback. From the keynote speaker! 👏   Jonathan MacDonald delivered an inspiring and thoughtful keynote, and it seems he was very impressed with our team.     It’s ride oar die at simplybetter… On Monday some of our team took part in their first Dragon Boat racing lesson. We’re taking part in this year’s Bradford Dragon Boat Race Festival in July to help raise money for our charity partner The Immanuel Project. So, this was the first chance for our team to dip their toes in the water (so to speak, it goes against the rules of dragon boat racing…) The team had a great time learning the ropes and even managed to beat their initial race time!     Yesterday, we gathered the simplybetter team in the office for our Quarterly Business Update. But first, we were treated to a workshop in Building Resilience by the excellent Bryony from Mind in Bradford. Life and work can be incredibly challenging at the best of times, and in the agency world, it’s easy to live at 100 miles an hour. At simplybetter, we’re committed to ensuring that all our colleagues look after their mental and physical wellbeing. Working with one of our designated charities was a great way to do this, and get people involved, so a big thanks to the team at Mind. Then after a very tasty team fuddle, it was down to business… There were lots of things to get through, from celebrating the successes of the last three months and the internal work we’re doing now to become more efficient and forward-thinking to looking at some of those long-term plans. It’s all exciting stuff and great to get everyone together and engaged in the future of simplybetter. #EmployeeEngagement #TeamSpotlight #BusinessUpdate

    This week, our Director of Commercial & Compliance, Jenny Woodhead, has been down in London attending The Meetings Show at ExCeL London. With over 650 exhibitors under one roof, it was a great chance for Jen to reconnect with lots of suppliers while also getting to know potential future partners and find out about some of the exciting additions to the event industry. Thanks has to go to The QHotels Collection for the speedboat trip down the Thames, Jen was feeling all James Bond-y for a moment, there… And a big thank you to the organisers who did an incredible job. It was a memorable three days of information, innovation and inspiration. We’re excited to see what comes of it… #creativeevents #networking #suppliers
