The purpose behind TRACE by isla, the definitive carbon measurement platform for events. 🗣️ Our CEO and Founder, Anna Abdelnoor, discusses how our industry has a big part to play in reducing the impact of events on the environment and why there was a real need to build something designed for the events community that could actually be used. It wasn’t just about measuring events' footprints; it was about aggregating that data and understanding the event industry's overall impact. 🎤 Hear from one of our valued TRACE community, Russ Lidstone, President, Inizio Engage XD & CMO, Inizio Engage, on why they started using TRACE and how it’s helped them achieve their sustainability goals. See TRACE in action—check out the comments below for more details. 👇 #SustainableEvents #EventProfs #EventCarbonMeasurement

Did you know that you can build supply chains that meet sustainability standards by using simple questionnaires? This is what we learned from Anastasia Le, Sustainability Lead at Marble, during our most recent isla Show & Tell session, for members. By asking tailored, objective-led questions, you can determine which suppliers and venues align with your current sustainability goals, whilst also enriching your reporting with quality data. Marble were kind enough to share their learnings and an example questionnaire for you to use. You’ll find the links you need in the comments 👇 #SustainableEvents #EventProfs #EventCarbonMeasurement #TopTipTuesday

Love the farm. Leave no trace. Five of our team members were lucky enough to get tickets to Glastonbury this year, and what an incredible experience it was. While we didn’t manage to get a group picture, we did capture a few shots of the festival in all its glory. Aside from celebrating music and culture, Glastonbury strides towards a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for all. Here are some highlights of their efforts in sustainability and environmental impact*: Energy & Decarbonisation ⚡ 🌞 The entire festival was powered by renewable fuels and energy sources, including solar, wind, and battery hybrid systems. 🌱 Generators ran on sustainable HVO fuel, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. 🛤 Over 40,000 attendees arrived via public transport, cutting the carbon footprint. Waste & Recycling 🗑️ 🚫 Single-use plastic bottles and disposable vapes were banned, and compostable crisp packets were introduced. 🍽️ Only compostable or reusable serveware and FSC-certified wooden cutlery were used. 🌿 An onsite recycling plant and eco-friendly compost toilets supported waste reduction and recycling. Water & Biodiversity 💧 🌳 Over 10,000 native trees and hedges were planted to support local ecosystems. 🚰 More than 800 water refill points were available across the site, reducing plastic waste. 🐟 Continuous monitoring of water quality in local rivers and streams ensured the protection of local wildlife. Hands up if you went to watch Coldplay and handed your light-up bracelet back in afterwards 🙋♂️ #glastonburyfestival *Glastonbury website

That's a wrap for The Meetings Show! ✅ Yesterday's final day was action-packed, beginning with our CEO & Founder Anna Abdelnoor’s insightful session on the event industry’s carbon footprint using the latest data from TRACE by isla. Building on last year’s Temperature Check Report, Anna presented new data from over 1,500 global events to redefine the narrative on event sustainability. Next, Emily Shephard, Community Manager at TRACE by isla, led a practical session on event carbon measurement, explaining how to identify carbon hotspots and implement improvements to reduce emissions. Later, Anna Abdelnoor moderated an engaging panel at the ExCeL London partner showcase a few halls down on reducing your event's carbon footprint. The panel featured an impressive lineup, including Kate Holliday, Head of ESG, GES - Global Experience Specialists, Venetia Campbell, Sustainability Manager, Eclipse Catering and Events and Molly Bolton (PIEMA), Sustainability Manager, Levy UK. The day finished on a high with an interactive session from Rebecca Lardeur, Climate Strategy Advisor at isla, exploring the isla Theory of Change. The tool is designed with the end goal of achieving a clean, green, and fair future. The session focused on discussing the desired changes, the industry's impact, and key areas of focus. The participants addressed challenges, identified opportunities, and engaged in group thinking to support the industry's sustainable evolution. Our team deserves a rest this weekend after delivering 11 educational sessions, a member relaunch event, and so many good conversations on the stand, all in just three days. #welldoneteam #themeetingsshow #takethetime

Day 1 at The Meetings Show was filled with excitement, innovation, and inspiration. We started the day by unveiling our world-first zero-waste, reusable exhibition stand made from event-waste carpet, thanks to our collaboration with Paradigm, The Bulb, The Meetings Show, and Informa. The buzz around this initiative was incredible, and we loved chatting with so many people about the story behind the stand. Ellie Ashton-Melia then led our exclusive member relaunch event, giving our members a sneak peek at our newly revamped membership. We were thrilled to have Misha Dhanak, CEO of Spacehive, as our keynote speaker. Misha delivered an inspiring talk on driving impactful change in local communities after events, leaving the audience motivated and engaged. The day continued with a series of insightful sessions on the show floor. Rebecca Lardeur conducted an interactive session on busting sustainability myths, giving attendees plenty to think about. Megan Harris shared effective strategies for communicating green credentials, and Anna Abdelnoor discussed the future of exhibition stands and how to develop carbon instinct. If you’re interested in learning more about the new isla membership or TRACE, our carbon measurement platform, come and say hello at stand A41. We have so much more content to come from the isla team, and we can't wait to share it with you. #takethetime #themeetingsshow #eventprofs #eventprofsuk

Ahead of Cannes next week, we're sharing a multi-faceted update on progress across the Ad Net Zero action plan, including growth to new markets and details on key initiatives - particularly the collaboration with Ad Net Zero, #GARM and stakeholders across the industry to create a Global Media Sustainability Framework (more information on that Monday, June 17th). Read the full program update here: https://lnkd.in/e-nWQUgS As part of this update, and before the busyness of next week, we wanted to spotlight another powerful example of industry collaboration to advance sustainability: The Ad Net Zero US Action 4 Events & Awards group, along with expert guidance from sustainable event non-profit isla, identified a gap and created a curated Sustainable Events Starter Guide. https://lnkd.in/e-cCpG4Q While there are numerous frameworks and more detailed guides focusing on best practices, the group identified a lack of easy-to-use starter resources - and ones that also focus on not just the what but also the why, and how to overcome barriers. This guide provides event professionals and company leaders with beginning, intermediate and advanced considerations and provides the key statistics and case studies to understand the impact of each action. A huge thanks to isla (Kat Bednarczyk, Anna Abdelnoor, Toni Griggs, Alex Softley) for their partnership and the US Action 4 members who gave of their valuable time to make this come to life: John LoPresto with Viant Technology; Radel Huley, Jamey Hardesty, Amanda Grabenhofer, Kanika Khanna, Julien Le Bas with Jack Morton Worldwide; Michaela Washmon with Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity; Kathleen McKay and Renee Bourne with IAB; Patrick Sutton with IAB Tech Lab; Susan Grace with Givsly; Gregg Hamburger with VMG; Aliana Heffernan with Cadent; Frances Sutter with GMR Marketing; Dan Schneider and Kristina Meinig with Alliance for Audited Media; Jana Friedman with PubMatic; Cyd Converse with Mediavine. #sustainableadvertising #climateaction
