Can you count all the typewriters? Spread across seven floors with 29,000 sq ft of fully-serviced office and meeting space, Work.Life has just opened in W.RE’s refurbished Typewriter building on Borough High Street. The original Richard #Seifert building has been restored and brought into modern use by Cowie Montgomery Architects – and references to its original use as the headquarters of a typewriter firm are hidden throughout the building. The building boasts a range of modern features, including a winter garden and a breathtaking rooftop terrace with views of The Shard and other iconic London landmarks. With #BREEAM Excellent certification, the refurbishment utilises low-carbon practices and boasts bio-solar green roofs. Thank you to our project team who have brought this slice of London’s modernist heritage to life: B&CO, exigere, GDM Group, Akera Engineers and Faithdean Plc. #London #Offices #Commercial #Workspace #FlexOffices

Head down to the Royal Academy of Arts #SummerExhibition and you will find a familiar sight nestled in the architecture rooms: the red sandstone and white concrete of W.RE and Caruso St John Architects Llp's St Pancras Campus sits amongst an eclectic mix of other models, machinery and curious objects in Gallery 6. The 256th Summer Exhibition has been coordinated by Ann Christopher RA, a renowned sculptor whose experience in manipulating space has been reflected in the "Making Space" exhibition theme. Curators of the architecture rooms, Assemble, have transformed Gallery 6 into an industrial warehouse space, a creative store full to the brim with #models exploring different materials, including moss, 3D-printed sand and woven rush. The St Pancras Campus project, designed by Adam Caruso and Peter St John, represents a microcosm of the contemporary city, bringing together #office, #residential, and light industrial blocks in a #sustainable manner. The RA Summer Exhibition 2024 will be open till 18 August 2024 - come along to see the stunning project ahead of its real-life completion later this year. #RASummerExhibition #RoyalAcademy #Architecture #SustainableDesign #ArtExhibition

It’s often the last place we want to talk about in a building… but some would say it’s the most important. The #washrooms in our developments aren’t relegated to insignificance but celebrated with high-quality specification and #design. In a time when tenants are demanding more from their offices, it’s these details that elevate the day-to-day and create a holistic experience across all aspects of the #workspace. Take a look at some of the washrooms and end-of-trip facilities in our developments: Stiff Trevillion Architects’ beautiful tile work at Arding & Hobbs in Clapham Junction creates a vibrant, modern space juxtaposed by the exposed brickwork of the historic 19th century department store. 75 Grosvenor Street in Mayfair features the work of Cowie Montgomery Architects, emphasising the refined elegance of the location and the historic building. A bespoke motif, representative of the crests of 18th and 19th century livery companies, recurs on the wallpaper in the washrooms, and luxury materials have been chosen throughout, from the marble floored washrooms to silk laminated glass shower doors. #Development #RealEstate #Architecture #Office 📸 : Richard Chivers and James French

St Pancras Campus isn’t just offering brand-new high-quality workspace and light industrial units – the campus is made up of three distinct buildings, with two devoted to providing #homes on the site. Connected through their materiality to the office block, the two buildings are nonetheless distinct architecturally, and separated by a public pocket #park at the heart of the development which permeates the site, and provides essential green space for residents and the local #community for play and relaxation. The new homes respond to local housing need in the area, offering 33 apartments, including 14 at affordable rent – over 40% of the stock. St Pancras Campus will be a city on a small scale, with homes and multiple types of workspace creating a genuine #neighbourhood within a city block. Originally founded in Palermo over 30 years ago, the business is now delivering authentic Italian ingredients across London. Prezzemolo & Vitale joins Botanica Hall, with luxury Third Space gym due to open later this year – together, these dynamic businesses are revitalising the high street and bringing new energy to the heart of Clapham Junction. #ClaphamJunction #Battersea #Property #Development #Construction #RealEstate #Clampham #departmentstore #italianfood

“It’s a combination of convenience and character that persuades people to ditch their homes for more inspirational #office space” Sascha Lewin argues in EG that celebrating #heritage buildings can create the workspaces that the occupiers of today are now demanding – meaningful offices that connect with the people working within them. This is the inspiration behind our reinvention of Arding & Hobbs, a former century-old department store now sensitively transformed into new retail space and offices for 1000 people in Clapham Junction. Retaining and restoring original details has been central to our plans – similar to our work at 75 Grosvenor Street in Mayfair, where we have stitched together three Georgian townhouses to create a state-of-the-art office space. Original brickwork, fireplaces, and even 18th century portraits have all been restored to their former glory, in both cases creating workspaces that people can engage with and be proud of. The most recent issue of Property Week features the story of Arding & Hobbs, an example of how Britain’s old department stores can be given a new lease of life. From the architectural gems uncovered during refurbishment to the full design treatment given to bathrooms, looking more like something from a boutique hotel than an office scheme, Tim Clark guides the readers through the reimagined ‘Queen of Clapham’ — a project local people can be proud of. Find out more about what we have (and haven’t) discovered in the former department store’s vault, and learn about what it took to create characterful retail and office spaces: https://lnkd.in/eVcysPBC Thank you to our brilliant partners including Stiff Trevillion Architects, Knight Harwood, exigere, AKT II, B&K Structures, NDY, B&CO, and Green & Partners.
