Today, we’re celebrating the 1st birthday of Young V&A. We’ve had a joyful 365 days of creativity and play, sharing our brand-new galleries with over 723,000 young visitors & their families.   The team has been welcoming visitors into the Japan: Myths to Manga exhibition and flying Yokai's across the galleries. Young V&A has been shortlisted for Art Fund 'Museum of the Year 2024' and 'Kids in Museums Best Large Museum' – and last week received a prestigious visit from their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan! The fantastic Front of House team along with the wonderful volunteers have imagined, designed and played together with creatively curious visitors of all ages.   Thanks to everyone involved who made the first year of Young V&A so memorable. Here’s to another year of sparking inspiration!

Yesterday we were proud to welcome Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan to Young V&A in Bethnal Green.   Their Majesties visited the current Japan: Myths to Manga exhibition, met with school children taking part in creative workshops - and were treated to a short performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company and Joe Hisaishi’s production of Studio Ghibli’s 'My Neighbour Totoro' in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV.   Thanks to all the team at Young V&A who made this prestigious visit such a wonderful experience.   Photo Credits - David Parry/V&A & Manuel Harlan © RSC with Nippon TV
