🌟 UK-HyRES Hydrogen Highlight 🌟 For this week's highlight, we are excited to share that Prof Shanwen Tao, UK-HyRES Co-Director and Alternative Liquid Fuels lead, represented UK-HyRES at the 3rd Symposium for Ammonia Energy in Shanghai, China. The event attracted over 500 participants, including 160 international attendees, bringing together global clean energy leaders. Prof Tao reported that the Chinese government is focusing heavily on hydrogen and ammonia as key components of its clean energy strategy, with several green ammonia demonstration projects already underway. This visit provided valuable insights into the future of hydrogen as a clean energy source and its potential applications in sustainable energy systems. 🔹 UK HyRES plays a pivotal role in advancing hydrogen technology in the UK, supporting the nation’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. 🔹 UK HyRES focuses on hydrogen production, storage, and utilization in various sectors, including transport, industry, and heat, all of which are crucial to developing a low-carbon economy. 🔹 I had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge research in hydrogen fuel technology and discuss potential collaborations. 📰 Papers Invited for Conference on Hydrogen in Materials- Deadline 28th Sept 2024 🚨 Papers are invited for ASTM International’s Conference on Hydrogen in Materials, to be held June 4-6, 2025, in La Rochelle, France. The event is sponsored by ASTM International’s hydrogen embrittlement subcommittee (F07.04). Hydrogen embrittlement has historically been a concern where hydrogen is absorbed by materials, either during manufacturing processes or as a byproduct of corrosion. With the advent of the hydrogen economy, the scope of research has grown to include material interaction with hydrogen gas. The infrastructure needed for hydrogen gas storage and transportation, as well as the materials needed at the point of use of hydrogen fuel, are now part of the conversation. Applications include heating, vehicles, trains, aircraft, and more. This conference provides a forum for the global hydrogen embrittlement research and testing communities to meet and exchange ideas. Attendees will discuss the latest fundamental research and advances in technology and consider engineering implications across all industrial sectors. ✨️ Day 3 of the The Labour Party conference ✨️ We are exhibiting in the Hydrogen Zone, come and say hello! Our hydrogen tests show promising results for replacing natural gas, which is why we chose to display one of our hydrogen-ready burners. Installed and commissioned at Glass Futures’ combustion test bed facility, they were rigorously tested using various fuel blends, ranging from 100% natural gas to 100% hydrogen, at temperatures reaching up to 1,600°C. The experimental phase yielded promising results, demonstrating that all three hydrogen burners could effectively heat the furnace to temperatures comparable to those of traditional natural gas burners!
