A central standard to unlock the potential in land to reverse climate change and biodiversity collapse.

About us

The UK Carbon Code of Conduct (UKCCC) has been established as a central set of standards taking a holistic approach to drive investment into nature based solutions that contribute to the reversal of climate change and biodiversity collapse. The UKCCC is a not for profit entity that exists purely to ensure that its standards are continually developed and upheld and to give confidence that the carbon credits it issues are robust and ensure the central pillars are upheld, namely: • Additionality, all projects are created after a positive change in management; • Permanence, all projects are long term and ensure continual sequestration and emissions reductions; • Avoidance of leakage, project host net zero assured before any offsets sold; and • Avoidance of negative outcomes projects are actively monitored and verified by third parties. The UKCCC shall continually respond to best practice, new technological advances, changes in the IPPC regulations and the advice given by the UK Climate Change Committee and the Core Carbon Principles of the Taskforce for the Scaling of Voluntary Carbon Markets. The UKCCC seeks to work with other codes and stakeholders that share its Vision and Mission. https://www.ukcarboncodeofconduct.com

Beyond Zero - making the transition to regenerative agriculture investable

🇯🇪 More #Jersey good news! Building upon our island-wide tree survey last year, we have completed our #carbon #netzero project with Impact Jersey's Challenger Programme - funded by the Government of Jersey's Digital Jersey grant. The output is helping Jersey understand it's #climatechange challenge. We have mapped and measured the island's #naturalcapital, calculated it's current carbon storage, and identified opportunities for further carbon #sequestration and #naturerecovery through changes in land management e.g. #habitat creation and #regenerativeagriculture. Jersey has set itself a target to reach Net Zero by 2050, and our project has delivered the first comprehensive carbon storage baseline of the island. This is being used to balance against the island's total emissions, thereby providing a robust analysis of Jersey's current Net Zero position - essential for developing an evidence-led strategy and roadmap, and for measuring real change following future updates. All of this analysis is presented as a 'living map', and reported and shared online using Esri UK #ArcGIS interactive story maps and dashboards - a selection of which are shown below. Engagement through site visits is an important part of what we offer at Nature Broking. Site visits give clients the opportunity to see how additional carbon is stored through regenerative farming practices for example. On Monday we were hosted at Beech Estate in East Sussex by Harry Wills who showed our client Sarah Alsbury, Devon County Council's Climate Change Officer, his wonderful wildflower meadows, both mown and unmown, as well as how he’s sequestering carbon through changed practices on his arable land and planned woodland management. Despite the rather chilly breeze coming in off the Channel we all enjoyed the walk and talk with extra insights on the UK Carbon Code of Conduct provided by Doug Wanstall and Ian Bailey from project developers, Beyond Zero. Sarah found the site visit vital to see for herself the power of high integrity UK based carbon offsets and the reasons behind Devon County Council’s decision to offset its residual carbon to reach their 2030 Net Zero target.

WHAT. A. DAY!! On Tuesday, Nature Broking held our inaugural event at Bank Farm in Kent, along side our partners Beyond Zero and UK Carbon Code of Conduct. We hosted an amazing selection of guests combining panel discussions, a farm walk and a keynote speech from the esteemed Jonny Mulligan. Our goal for the day was to bring to life what high quality, UK regenerative agricultural carbon removal credits actually means in practice and all the amazing things that can be done with climate finance. We saw all things agroforestry, mob grazing and even farming worms! A big thank you to Doug Wanstall for hosting, Ian Bailey, Pete Wain and Niels Corfield for talking us through how the carbon balance works with regenerative agriculture, Mel Blackmore and David Daniels for bringing to life what this means for businesses and of course, the Nature Broking team who pulled the event together! But the biggest shoutout has to go to all the amazing people who came all the way down to Kent to spend the day with us!

Beyond Zero - making the transition to regenerative agriculture investable

What a few days, full-on doesn’t quite cover it! After another amazing year exhibiting at Groundswell Agriculture, the team at Beyond Zero (a Triage company) are reflecting on, and starting to follow-up, all of the connections made with old and new clients, and some exciting new alliances with organisations helping to reverse climate change and biodiversity collapse. Beyond Zero is underwriting the transition to regenerative agriculture by making it investable. The work started a few years ago, building a system which helps drive farmers beyond net zero, so that they benefit from more climate and financially resilient businesses, and unlock new income streams. We are now matching land managers to companies large and small that have the same goals as us; nothing beats emissions' reduction, but good quality carbon removal projects come a close second. We will release news of our Groundswell competition shortly, the winners benefiting from 10% off the cost of their natural capital (habitat and soil) and carbon audit baselines. If you're at Groundswell this week you need to talk to Pete Wain. He is our techie CPO - overseeing the baselines, mapping, data and digital reporting of the BZ journey to net zero and beyond. Measuring baselines is the key initial step. If you know where you're starting from, you can plan where you need to be and prove Additionality - one of the vital 4 pillars of the UK Carbon Code of Conduct - essential if you want to generate high-integrity nature credits (which you absolutely do!). #baselines #MRV #highintegrity #carboncredits #ZeroBeforeIssue #BeyondZero #regenerativeagriculture #projectdevelopment #regenag #climatechange #BNG #netzero

  • Today is #earth day, a day for reflection for some but for the UK Carbon Code Team its just another day of climate action. Every day we are helping drive investment into projects that restore natural systems, building carbon sequestration and storage and biodiversity recovery from the soil up. Climate action is something we can all participate in, taking the Japanese Kaizen principle, making many, small changes to our lives, multiplied up across the population can make a significant difference. Above all it’s action that counts, reducing emissions the number one priority, with the development of exciting projects that deliver social, climate and biodiversity benefits a close second. To invest or participate in UK Carbon Code projects, please take action and get in touch…

Scaling regenerative agriculture & restorative systems to reverse climate change and biodiversity collapse by driving investment into projects that issue high integrity nature backed carbon credits approved by the UKCCC

Nearly at the end of what for me has been a momentous year, triumph & challenges in equal measure but slowly, surely heading in the right direction. From biochar to chickens, our move to an added value, resilient & circular farming business continues. Our work with Re-Generation Earth and the UK Carbon Code of Conduct to help land managers adopt regenerative and restorative solutions has moved on at a pace. This coming year is shaping up to be massive as we move from concept to deployment of our services to help others achieve their net zero goals through the investment in projects that remove atmospheric CO2 and reverse biodiversity collapse. Richard Bowe Will Foulkes Steve Cochrane, CISSP CCSP Stabiliti Ltd Pete Wain Ian Bailey Environment Systems 2024 is going to be a cracker! A very joyous Christmas to all and here is to a prosperous New Year! #netzerotransition #biodiversity #carbonsequestration #climatesmartagriculture #climatesolutions #climateaction #climateresilience

  • This is the week of #cop28 it’s a shame that the news is dominated by reports of the hosts supposedly using the event to secure oil and gas contracts, let’s hope that’s not the case and some actual work to reverse #climatechange and the #biodiversitycrisis gets done. Lots of talk about tech #climatesolutions and tech based #carboncredits systems but let’s not forget that it’s not tech that will actually remove atmospheric CO2 but high integrity projects. Projects should be financed by Carbon Credit sales, fully reported, lead to long term carbon removals and not lead to any negative outcomes. #naturebasedsolutions hold the key and can be rapidly deployed at scale. If anything comes out of #cop28 it should be a scaling of investment into carbon credits, the UK Carbon Code of Conduct has the mechanism and a pipeline of projects that need such investment.
