It was lovely to welcome the High Sheriff of Bristol, Richard Pendlebury, to our Sanctuary Garden 🌼 The space has been developed with colleagues in the Dementia, Delerium and Falls Team and the Gardening Team from Alive Activities. Funded by Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, the Alive team run weekly activities in the garden for patients with dementia or cognitive impairment. The sessions help promote independence, conversation and a feeling of wellbeing not only for the patient but for the carers and staff who join them. For the High Sheriff's visit colleagues, patients and visitors enjoyed tea and cakes, baked by Chrissy Knapp one of our Senior Healthcare Support Workers. Richard Pendlebury said: “I was bowled over by the passion and commitment of everyone involved. What is really good is that family members join in too and it was a pleasure to spend some time talking with them.” #TeamUHBW
