Bringing STEM to a New Generation Dr Ross Hanna and PhD Student Mengyuan Zhang from TWI Wales joined Paul Bulmer of the British Computing Society to deliver a special day of robotics to Year 5 pupils from Cwmafan Primary School in Port Talbot. Exploring the use of robots for non-destructive testing, the pupils were able to experience a real industrial robotic platform in a safe and accessible way. It is always a pleasure to be able to promote engineering to a new generation and the feedback from the pupils shows that they enjoyed the experience too. TWI Exploratory Work Develops Low Density Alloy Heat Exchangers Find out how TWI has been investigating the design and manufacture of printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) technologies using low density alloys. Although these alloys are of interest to the transport industry they can be difficult to join because of fast growing oxides. We successfully designed and manufactured a PCHE using a low density alloy (aluminium alloy), showing the feasibility of the concept that could help industry realise targets and requirements. Creating a compact and lightweight solution for heat exchangers could prove to be an asset in the drive towards Net Zero… Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/epCbU97M #Alloys #Thermal #HeatExchange #PCHE
