The leading provider of insurance and risk management services to the international transport and logistics industry

About us

TT Club is the international transport and logistics industry’s leading provider of insurance and related risk management services. Established in 1968, the Club’s membership comprises container owners and operators (shipping lines and lessors), ports and terminals, and logistics companies, including road, rail and airfreight operators. As a mutual insurer, TT Club exists to provide its policyholders with benefits, which include specialist underwriting expertise, a world-wide office network providing claims management services, and first class risk management and loss prevention advice. The Club works with some of the world’s largest operators, through to companies whose activities are on a smaller scale, but face similar risks. Remarkably, in view of industry changes and consolidation, one third of the membership has chosen to insure with the Club for more than 20 years. TT Club is managed by Thomas Miller, an independent and international provider of insurance, professional and investment services. http://linkd.in/1wPjvvn

For over 25 years, TT Club have sponsored the Young Logistics Professionals in the Industry FIATA International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations Award. 🙌 The award process requires that each candidate writes a 6,000 - word dissertation covering an import and export shipment from their own country. The dissertations are judged by an international panel and each year an overall winner is announced during the FIATA World congress. A component of the prize for the winner is a visit to TT Club in London for a week of practical training! 🚀 Last week we had the pleasure of hosting the latest award winner Andre Gerber, who currently works as a Customs Compliance and Audit officer at Bidvest, South Africa. Andre had a tour of the Lloyds of London building with Joshua Finch, joined a meeting with NaVCIS freight, visited the Southampton container terminal and explored the British International Freight Association - BIFA head office in Feltham!

TT Talk 312 | Container misappropriation The theft of shipping containers is a topic that TT Club has raised previously. While there are differing causes for this, sometime related to issues such as abandoned cargo, the industry continues to grapple with this persistent risk globally. In this article, we discuss: 🔴 Changing container theft trends 🔴 Poor interdepartmental communication 🔴 Risk mitigation TT typically focuses on cargo theft when it considers supply chain security, but bad actors inevitably turn their attention to whatever opportunity is presented! TT Talk 312 | Contractual management obligations   The importance of contractual risk management, with both suppliers and customers (up and down the chain) should not be underestimated. Understanding commonly problematic contractual clauses and risk exposures is vital for those with commercial responsibility. Without care, a business may be severely exposed financially. External assistance with the review of contracts should be sought where you do not maintain a competent legal department.   The core of a contractual management plan should revolve around three key elements: 🔴 Assessing the contract 🔴 Are the terms too onerous? 🔴 Which clauses are key?   It would be prudent, particularly if your business does not benefit from a dedicated legal department, to develop an understanding of contractual risk management. Identifying the most important clauses, what they mean in the context of a loss or dispute and negotiating with your customer where appropriate.   To read this article in full, click the link below. https://lnkd.in/e2w3z9bT

Case study | Recruiting and retaining talent Woodland Group, based in the UK believe apprenticeships are the key to reducing high turnover of personnel and frequency of safety incidents. Apprenticeships are a great way to invest in new talent entering the industry, whilst also supporting the ongoing development of your current workforce. The Institute of Apprenticeships is a great place to find what training is available. There are hundreds of courses, with options specifically designed for our industry as well as more general courses like business administration and customer service. Through the Institute of apprenticeships, you can find local and national training providers. These providers have qualified Skills Coaches who work with the apprentice throughout their learning to ensure they are ready for their end point assessment. Through company-wide promotions and direct recruitment interventions, Woodland has encouraged leaders across the group to recruit apprentices or use apprenticeships to upskill their current team, meaning a 600% increase in learners on programme since 2019.
