The last two days of #ClimateWeekNYC: worth the effort. Despite having entered a sort of over-networked fugue state by Thursday morning (longtimers assure me this is entirely normal), I still managed to make it around to rep Treeconomy for some brilliant events and worthwhile conversations. 👉 Showcasing Nature & Biodiversity Investments Hosted by the good people at Ethic, Alessa Berg and Top Tier Impact convened an A panel comprising Kahlil Baker, PhD, David Sternlicht, and Erika Basham, with an overview of the World Economic Forum's newest report on nature investment. 👉 Innovation and Solutions for Climate from the Nature Space Under the auspices of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and under the roof of the Bloomberg HQ, Tony Lent highlighted the way in which new tech and business models are accelerating capital towards nature-based solutions while providing an overview of the many ways he and Deborah Stern at Capital for Climate are enabling the enablers. Thanks also to Elizabeth Aceituno for grabbing the telescope and sketching the future of nature finance. 👉 Cerulean Ventures Brunch Waffles more to power a tired-yet-energetic bunch of nature-and-climate founders, investors, and friends through the final stretch. Lucky to be seated with Edo Perry, Saif Bhatti and Jinal Surti. Thanks again to Jahed Momand and Matthew Stotts. 👉 Reassembly Seemingly the busiest place in New York, thanks to an all-day events programme by Regeneration.VC. I was able to duck into "Biodiversity: The Keystone of Life - The Road to COP16" and am glad I did. Very possibly my favourite panel of the week, comprising Robin Moore from Re:wild, Stan Stalnaker, and Tom Quigley from Superorganism. Conversation topics included biodiversity hotspots, putting nature on the board, indigenous knowledge as technology, and the Half-Earth project to rewild 50% of the planet. Tom reminded us of shifting baseline syndrome with respect to rapid nature loss in the last 50 years and that restoring ecosystems and bending the curve on declining wildlife populations offers us a "Future wilder than the wildest Earth you can imagine". Love that. 👉 Land & Carbon Lab's Geospatial Social A rooftop gathering co-hosted by the World Resources Institute and Bezos Earth Fund, and focused on the future of earth observation for nature and climate. Wonderful to run into Meredith Karazin, Eric Wilburn, Cristian Samper and Jed Sundwall, among others. 👉 Ethic Nightcap for Nature with Superorganism and Spotify Back to Ethic house and *their* lovely rooftop. Jay Lipman outlined Ethic's commitment to channeling finance to nature and the urgent need to do so (check out Nature2). Spotify and UN Live told us about Sounds Right: Listening to nature sounds on streaming platforms can now fund conservation and restoration (link in the comments). What a week! Still reflecting and digesting.

Nature-based carbon removal projects often face criticism for their “limited” duration—trees can die or be repurposed, releasing the captured carbon back into the atmosphere. 🌳💨 But what if there was a way to reduce this uncertainty and extend the durability of these projects? 🤔 Our stacked carbon removal credits offer a game-changing solution combining shorter-term and long-duration carbon credits, ensuring carbon stays sequestered for 100 years or even 1,000 years. ⏳🌲 Thanks to our partner project in Abergavenny with The Great Reserve, we’re harnessing the power of Giant Sequoias—one of the longest-living tree species—to provide superior carbon storage and extend the durability of nature-based carbon removal credits. 🌳🔒 🌟 Want to learn how this approach is setting a new standard for nature-based solutions? 🌿 Treeconomy is excited to announce a first-of-its-kind partnership with CUR8 and British Airways, marking a major leap forward in nature-based carbon removal! ✈️🌍 British Airways has pioneered a new approach by purchasing stacked carbon credits, combining 3,000 Woodland Carbon Code (WCC) Pending Issuance Units (PIUs) from the Montgreenan afforestation project in Scotland (with a 100-year duration) and 3,000 Sequoia Carbon Pending Units from our partner project in Abergavenny. This innovative method extends the long-term durability of carbon removal, pairing conventional nature-based solutions with the extraordinary carbon-capturing potential of Giant Sequoia trees. This collaboration sets a new benchmark in ensuring transparency, durability, and permanence for nature-based carbon removal projects, showcasing British Airways’ leadership in sustainable aviation.
