Our Company: In 1985, Travelodge became the UK's first budget hotel brand when it opened its first hotel at Barton-under-Needwood. Today, we operate nearly 600 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain and annually welcome over 21 million guests. With a mission to provide affordable travel for everyone, we are currently looking to expand our UK hotel network and we have identified a further 300 locations where we would like to open a Travelodge hotel. Travelodge employs over 12,000 employees and is dedicated to its purpose of creating an environment where everyone can learn more, earn more and belong.     On Monday, we officially opened our first hotel in Rotherham! Travelodge Rotherham Central, our new, 69-room hotel is part of Forge Island, a major, new leisure development located in the town centre. A once-derelict, brownfield site, now transformed into a family-friendly, leisure destination. We were joined by Cllr Chris Read, Leader of the Council, and our UK Development Director, Tony O'Brien, to mark the official opening of the hotel.

That’s why since 2022 we’ve worked with BetterHappy to deliver Limitless, our specially designed training course focusing on everything you need to improve and grow - both at home and in the workplace. So far this year over 200 team members have completed the course with more training sessions to come.

    This week, Travelodge CEO Jo Boydell shared her perspective on the priorities for hospitality businesses as they seek to be more responsible in assessing and improving their environmental and social impacts.    At Travelodge, our vision is to create a Better Future for our customers, colleagues and the planet. In May, we launched our 2023 Sustainability Report, documenting our progress and objectives, underpinned by the three core pillars of our sustainability plan: Inclusive, Caring and Conscious.   To progress this important work, we are undertaking a double materiality assessment to better understand our sustainability priorities. As part of this assessment, we have begun a public consultation for employees, guests, and the public.     I recently shared some thoughts on the importance of sustainability to the long-term success of the UK hospitality sector. Overall, I’m encouraged to see strong progress towards environmental and social sustainability goals across the sector, with businesses cutting carbon emissions by an average of 12% in 2023 and undertaking new initiatives to increase diversity and development, support communities, and prioritise employee safety, health, and wellbeing. At Travelodge, we care about the wider impact of our decisions and I am proud of our steps to be a more sustainable business, improving our environmental impact and with a strong social responsibility to our colleagues, customers, and communities. I also recognise there is more to do. Our latest Sustainability Report outlines our progress so far and our areas of focus for the future and we are also in the process of consulting stakeholders as part of our double materiality assessment. We will continue to evolve our plans and report annually on our Better Future Plan, and to collaborate with others across the sector to share what we’ve learned and hear more about their work.     Travelodge continues to invest in the business to drive growth and quality, while enhancing its proposition of providing a well-priced, well-located stay that customers can trust.   In the quarter this included its advertising campaign – which is expected to build demand over time and is already having a positive impact on brand metrics – and the upgrade of its property management system.   The acceleration of Travelodge’s refit programme – its most significant brand transformation to date – continued to drive positive commercial and customer benefits. Travelodge accelerated the refit of London hotels in particular, ahead of the peak trading seasons.   With Travelodge’s strong brand proposition, resilient underlying customer demand across business and leisure travel, diversified network of well-invested hotels and efficient operating model, the business is well positioned.
