We're thrilled about this too we've teamed up with Air Doctor This new service for our policy holders should take some of the stress out of finding a doctor abroad. The team have done an amazing job linking up with thousands of medics around the world offering support, advice and treatment for travellers who need medical help. It has so many benefits, not least being able to find an English-speaking doctor while you're on holiday. #travelinsurance #travel #holidays https://lnkd.in/eD4Ppwpu

A big thank you to that nice Alastair Walker at Insurance Edge who published an article about our partnership with OpenDialog AI - which explains how we're using cutting edge technology to help our customers. We all know the frustrations of trying to find information on a website and going round in circles. Getting swift answers to our queries is incredibly important. Our concierge service which we've just launched on our Holidaysafe website, runs on OpenDialog technology and will help our customers find the information they need quickly. And the more our customers use it the more we can learn about them and thus continue to improve our offering. We're the first in the travel insurance space to use OpenDialogAi technology in this way. https://lnkd.in/eZENfk3k

The Safer Tourism Foundation has identified a phenomenon we're all familiar with, the 'Holiday Head'. It's when our rational mind takes a back seat and we maybe don't consider safety as much as we should. The results of their research reflect how “optimism biases and social influences” play their part in affecting how we behave on holiday. As Kathy Atkinson Safer Tourism Foundation chief executive, says “...the Holiday Head that encourages us to live in the moment and to go with that optimism bias (it won’t happen to me) can also mean we don’t stop and think, and so find ourselves doing risky, reckless or dangerous things we simply wouldn’t contemplate at home." And also it might also have an impact on your travel insurance cover. #travel #travelinsurance #holiday https://lnkd.in/ekYDqPeN

Interesting take on the Majorca tourism protests - from the local English language newspaper, emphasising the fact that the protest is not so much about tourism, but about it's impact on the local housing market. There is so much investment in tourist accommodation that it's difficult for locals to afford a property. But according to the report, toursim accounts for 45% of the island's GDP so it's going to be tricky for the government to navigate the problem. Last year more than 17 million British holidaymakers chose Spain - easily making the UK the main country of origin for their tourists. #travel #tourism #Spain https://lnkd.in/emrispPH

This week in honour of Mental Health week and this year’s theme “Movement: Moving More for your Mental Health, we started the week with a movement calendar, launched a podcast - Mental Health Minute, discussing the power of movement and the profound impact physical activity can have on our mental well-being. We explored how moving more doesn’t have to be in the form of a costly gym membership, sharing free resources, home based exercises and a reminder of the benefits of getting outside and walking. Yesterday some of our team members gathered together for breakfast flexing their knowledge over an early morning quiz followed by a stress management and relaxation session. Whilst this week we have focused on participating in mental health week to raise awareness, we nurture good mental health daily and we are always working to improve and develop more effective ways to support our teams mental health. #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness

During Mental Health Awareness week we decided to do some research into how many people declare their mental health condition for travel insurance and offer some tips on making travel as stress-free as possible. We discovered that since the Covid pandemic declarations for mental-health-related cover had increased by 87%. It's encouraging to see that it's no longer taboo to talk about mental health But there are still many who are reluctant to declare things like anxiety, stress and depression. Here are some useful tips on travelling with a mental health condition: 1. Before you buy your travel insurance you should speak to your GP to establish if you are well enough to travel abroad. 2. When booking your holiday, make sure you are happy with the destination country’s stance on mental health – some countries have a poor record of dealing with mental health issues. Some do not recognise certain mental health conditions and may not be able to offer the best treatment should you need it. 3. If you take medication make sure it is not banned in the country you are travelling to. If you need your medication in your hand luggage, make sure it is in its original packaging and that you have a copy of your prescription (just in case). 4. As soon as you’ve booked your holiday you should buy travel insurance. This will protect you if you need to cancel your holiday (make sure you read the T&Cs as certain situations may not be covered). 5. It’s worth knowing that, depending on the insurer, you could need to declare if you have ever been diagnosed with a mental health condition (even if you’re no longer receiving treatment). 6. Make sure you read through each question and step of the quote process carefully, and don’t be afraid to live chat or call the customer service line if you’re unsure about anything. 7. Any traveller should always ensure they know how to contact emergency services in their destination country. It’s also always useful to familiarise yourself with the location of the nearest hospital (just in case). Hopefully these tips will help your trip go as smoothly as possible. We all deserve a holiday and enjoy the positive effects it can have on our state of mind. #travel #holidays #mentalhealth

Hats off to Independent Travel Advisors for this sound advice about buying travel insurance. Too many people don't understand what they're buying and end up disappointed when they make a claim because their particular circumstances were not covered by their policy. Education is important - and is one of the cornerstones of our business. Everyone from travel agents, tour operators to brokers, underwriters, distributors and insurers has a responsibility to be transparent and clear about the policies they're selling. But customers too should take time to read their policies and understand what they are signing up for. https://lnkd.in/eW-9qGWa
