The world's most iconic transport network. 🌍

About us

Every day, we help millions of people to make journeys across London: By Tube, bus, tram, car, bike – and more. People don’t associate us with journeys by river, on foot or via the air, but we help with that, too. Getting people to where they need to go has been our business for over 100 years, and it shows. We’re leaders in our field, and no other city’s transport system is quite as recognisable: Red buses, black taxis, Tube trains and roundels have become icons in their own right. Our main job is to keep the city moving, working and growing but to do that, we have to listen. Constant improvements across the network are fuelled by feedback and comments from customers, as well as work within communities, representative groups, businesses and other London transport stakeholders. But our progress also depends on technology and data. With the future at our fingertips, we’ve already used it to revolutionise travel payments (think Oyster and contactless payment cards), and improved travel information. Tech and data is essential, not just to our future, but to others’: third parties use our data to power apps and services vital to customer journeys. So what’s next? As well as continuing to deliver Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s strategy and commitments on transport, our programme of capital investments is still one of the largest. We launched the Elizabeth line, we’re modernising services and stations and making travel safer for all.

What makes the Bakerloo line so special? 🤨🚉 It might not be the most modern of our lines, but it definitely has that heritage railway spirit. A vintage charm some would say. 🎩 Our staff member, David Reed, service controller on the Bakerloo line, was interviewed by Jacqueline Shepherd - BBC Radio London, where he highlighted what his day-to-day job is like and what makes this line so unique. Check out the full interview and discover the behind-the-scenes of how we keep London moving: https://lnkd.in/dF-UzfUA

We’re happy to announce the Bakerloo line step-free entrance opening at Paddington station! 🚇 The accessible ticket hall introduces direct step-free access from the street to the Bakerloo line platforms via two lifts, improving the journeys of customers who have accessibility requirements. The station’s upgrades include: - More ticket gates for faster journeys 🎫 - Enhanced signage for easier navigation 🚈 We are always looking to improve accessibility on the network, and this milestone marks another important step towards a more accessible London.

⚡ We’re delighted to announce that Fastned, the award winning European ultra-rapid charging company, is our preferred new joint venture partner to roll-out new electric vehicle charging hubs, across our estate.  Across London, there are 180,000 plug-in electric cars and vans already registered in the capital. This partnership will help deliver multiple electric vehicle charging hubs across our estate, supporting the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan's commitment to achieve Net Zero carbon by 2030. These new dedicated off-street urban charging hubs will also be able to simultaneously charge multiple vehicles at high speeds, while supporting placemaking in the local areas by including retail and other facilities. The first five initial sites being delivered as part of the joint venture are located in Hanger Lane, Canning Town, Hatton Cross Tube station, Tottenham Hale and Hillingdon Circus. In parallel with the procurement process, we hope to deliver at least 25 hubs across the life of this joint venture, the first of which will open in 2026, with the potential to increase this to 65 hubs. This will help encourage high-mileage businesses such as taxi, private hire and commercial drivers, across London, to confidently make the transition to electric vehicles. During Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re proud to highlight the incredible contribution of Sonja Jutte, a TfL colleague, and stem cell donor through Anthony Nolan 👏 In the UK, many people with blood cancers rely on stem cell donors for a second chance at life. We can’t cure blood cancer without transport networks. Stem cells need to get from donor to patient within 72 hours, anywhere in the world. We’re excited to partner with the London Sight Loss Council at Vauxhall Bus Station as part of our Catch the Bus Month campaign. The event on 11th September focused on advancing accessibility across London’s bus network. 🔊 This collaboration is focused on practical improvements that ensure our public transport system is welcoming for all. At the event, we had the opportunity to talk directly to Tom Cunnington FCILT, Head of Buses Business Development – "Today is an opportunity to engage with a large group of people with different levels of sight loss, to understand what their current experiences are and if the current innovations are good for them or where we can improve them further. This is all part of our aim to make it easier to catch the bus and to ensure that our services are as inclusive as possible for all of London. " Discover how we’re making bus travel easier and more inclusive for all Londoners. Learn more at 👇 https://lnkd.in/efYUKP4R #InclusiveTravel #LondonBuses #TfL
