About us

Established in 2008 and based in the UK, Traffi is an industry leading designer and manufacturer of #PPE safety gloves. As a company we are committed to promoting hand safety using a combination of innovative product design and hands-on safety training. Our flagship innovation – and the one that has been copied by manufacturers around the world – is the introduction of the 3 colour coding #TraffiSystem. We developed the system after listening to customers in many industries who were asking for a simple and common sense approach to raising safety awareness. So we applied the principle of good, better, best to our gloves and arrived at the RED, AMBER, GREEN TraffiSystem that has improved safety for over 100,000 glove wearers around the world. Thanks to Traffi, everyone can see at a glance whether someone is wearing the right level of cut protection for a particular task. Our RED gloves provide the lowest cut level protection and should not be worn for high risk tasks – hence the warning colour, reminding the wearer to proceed with caution. The AMBER gloves offer a medium level of protection, and GREEN gloves the highest level so you are ‘Safe to go’ when handling potentially sharp or jagged materials. We are committed to sustainability. We're certified carbon neutral as a company and in 2020 we launched the world's first carbon neutral safety glove range.

  • Congratulations to Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Limited for making big strides on both safety and sustainability. The statistics on both injury and carbon reduction make for great reading, and this is just the beginning!

Two of APCL’s most important priorities are worker safety and carbon reduction. And by partnering with a new glove supplier, APCL’s Cammell Laird facility has won an award for its continued commitment to both. APCL Group subsidiary Cammell Laird has named Traffi UK | Hand Protection Specialists their new preferred supplier, with the intention that they should provide the absolute best protection for workers. Since using the new gloves, hand injuries at the Birkenhead shipyard have reduced by two thirds. There has also been a reduction in new glove usage due to their increased durability, which has helped cut waste. But there was another major bonus to using Traffi. The company specialises in gloves which not only provide excellent protection but are also better for the environment. The gloves are more sustainable than what was previously used on site due to the fact that they are carbon neutral, they come in recyclable cardboard wraps and they are certified after laundering. Cammell Laird are set to have avoided 100 tonnes of CO2e emissions by June 2025. Stephen Gibney, Director of HSEQ at APCL Group said: “Cammell Laird was delighted to win this award. “First and foremost, this initiative was about finding gloves which provided the absolute best protection for our workforce. We have an excellent safety record here but we are always looking to improve. And since using the gloves we have seen a reduction in cuts of 66%.” Steve added: “But another clear bonus is Traffi’s commitment to being carbon neutral. We too are committed to reducing CO2 emissions. We were recently awarded Government funding for a cutting-edge Green Shore Power Project, the first of its kind in the UK and provide a zero-carbon onshore power solution. “Our commitment to worker safety and carbon reduction are both vitally important, so it has been hugely beneficial to be able to achieve both at the same time.” Adrian James, Director at Traffi said: ‘It's a privilege to partner with Cammell Laird on their journey towards a safer and more sustainable future - we've seen a very positive results in reducing both hand injuries and carbon emissions, and there is unlimited potential moving forward together’. Traffi is an affiliate of the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF), Science Based Targets Iniative (SBTI) and Registered Safety Supplier Scheme (RSSS). • Need a feel good story this Monday? Recently, our friends and partners at Balfour Beatty plc sent a team of volunteers to rural Rwanda in order to assist local workers in building a bridge across the Kazirankomo river. The river is prone to flooding during the rainy season leaving entire communities cut off, with children unable to attend school and adults unable to reach work, or even basic health facilities. The 58m suspended Rebero bridge will now provide safe year-round access for 4,144 locals, improving critical infrastructure and helping to eradicate the poverty which can result from rural isolation. Traffi's contribution came in the form of providing hand protection, and we're very grateful for the feedback from Jason Himsworth - "...we had no issues with the gloves at all, even having to wear them fourteen hours at a time." A massive well done to all involved.

  • If you're lucky enough to have two fully functional hands, it can be easy to take them for granted. They're used so often that their importance is rarely given a second thought. 👐 Appropriate hand protection is more than a box-ticking exercise at work - it's a vital part of ensuring that you can do all those important things outside of the workplace. ✍️🧤 #handprotection #safetyatwork

  • ♻️It's Plastic Free July, and how do we support this at Traffi? As part of our quest to reduce single use plastic, we introduced packaging with 100% recycled and recyclable FSC certified paper pulp. In addition, we introduced a newly patented 100% recycled, 100% recyclable card bellyband wrap 🌲 This was an industry first, and it has helped to avoid the use of over half a million polybags by our customers. 🔜Going forward, we are going to be focusing on GRS(Global Recycled Standard)/RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) certifications for recycled content claim. The main purpose of the RCS is to increase the use of recycled materials, and the purpose of GRS is to increase the use of recycled materials in products along with reducing the harmful social, environmental, and chemical impacts. #PlasticFreeJuly #Traffi #ZeroWaste #PlasticFree #PlasticPollution #ReduceWaste #GRS #RCS #Recycle #ReducePlastic #FSCCertified #
