At tp bennett, we believe strongly in giving the opportunity for all voices to be heard and actively challenge the status quo. We have developed Twelve; a mutual-mentoring programme that encourages debate and discourse between our Board and their 12 staff mentors, our disrupters, who have been given the platform to influence our future. “Twelve is all about diversity of thought and allows for new and alternative ways of thinking; problem solving from a different perspective,” says Head of People & Culture Lisa Delaney, “we have empowered the Twelve to question and influence, be active voices within the practice.” As a result, Twelve is a mutual-mentoring initiative, where 12 successful applicants from across the business have been matched with 12 Board Members across our six strategic imperatives: brand, client, design, finance, people and sustainability. We've matched pairs of people who would not ordinarily work on projects together. The programme runs for 18 months, with interim check-ins and reviews to collect feedback from across the pairs. The result is individuals with different life experiences connecting and learning from each other which paves the way for an exciting future for the practice. We asked each Twelve pair to conduct a two-way interview to find out what they both hope to achieve from being part of the programme. Our second pair are Associate designer, Mariachiara Dal Pozzo who sits in the ‘People’ imperative and Principal Director, Nick Hirst. This year tp bennett’s Manchester studio celebrates its 10-year anniversary. We’re looking back at some of our most significant schemes with a fresh perspective.   At Abingdon Market we did an extensive refurbishment to the existing market hall as part of #Blackpool City Council’s regeneration strategy. Transforming it into a contemporary food and retail destination in the town centre, the market is now home to many independent businesses alongside a community space for workshops, creative events and charity-led initiatives.   A heritage asset, the 150-year-old building was respectfully renovated, with new facades, activated shop fronts and a deep internal remodel flooded with natural light designed to boost footfall, encourage community spirit and reinforce the market’s social significance in Blackpool.   Alberto Velázquez Yébenes, Project Director tp bennett said:   “The refurbishment of Abingdon Market demonstrates how well-designed adaptive reuse can breathe new life into historic buildings, creating, in this instance, a re-energised heart for the town centre and surrounding community.   We worked collaboratively with stakeholders to create an impactful destination market for local people and visitors to come and enjoy, securing the future of an underutilised building in Blackpool.”   #Blackpool #adaptivereuse #architecture #refurbishment #communityarchitecure

Celebrating our Manchester studio's 10-year anniversary, we're looking back at some of our most significant schemes with a fresh perspective.   For Hilti Group, leaders in the design and manufacturer of cutting-edge technologies, software and services for the construction industry, we created an honest, progressive and flexible head office at Circle Square in Manchester’s tech quarter. The workspace builds on Hilti's innovative brand, harnessing a sense of learning that supports their business ethos. An activated reception and showcase hub regularly host product launches, offering flexible touch point moments to interact with customers.   Embracing the company’s culture, workspaces are inclusive and designed in agile ‘neighbourhoods’ that adapt easily to suit team sizes and needs, providing an environment bespoke to Hilti.   Peter Pringle, Director at tp bennett said: "Our design reflects Hilti’s values; seamlessly connecting their people, customers, purpose and brand. Integrated technology and a variety of flexible working environments and meeting spaces influence a positive change, enabling the business to become an innovation hub for the construction industry in Manchester.” #interiordesign #workplacedesign #Manchester

The Parcels Building on Oxford Street, London transforms an outdated and unfit for purpose 1950s office and retail building into a sustainable hub for modern workspace and retail, a striking example of adaptive reuse. With concept by Grafton Architects and tp bennett as Executive Architects, the building was stripped back to its structural elements with a new façade and floors added to enhance energy performance and occupants’ comfort. Characterised by clean lines, the stone façade adds depth and rhythm, complementing the Grade II listed Selfridges building and offering a seamless integration to the busy shopping street. The façade is cleverly tied back to the existing structural frame using innovative bespoke brackets which hug existing perimeter columns, playing a pivotal role not only in supporting the new façade but also providing additional floor space on each level. Winner of a RIBA London Award for Adaptive reuse and a two Schüco UK Limited awards, the client’s advocacy for the retention of the 1957 structure was key to the project, breathing new life into an outdated retail and office block. tp bennett’s Manchester studio is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. We’re looking back at some of our most significant schemes with a fresh perspective. At One City Square we retrofitted a tired 1980s building. in a historic public square in Leeds, into a contemporary, sustainable and dynamic city centre office, providing 11 floors of open plan workspace floors for Catella APAM. Through geometry and composition, we transformed an awkward arrival experience, creating an inviting double-height entrance that opens up into an active atrium carved into the heart of the building. A communal feature staircase, business lounge, café and co-working spaces offer flexible working opportunities and occasions to bring building users together. Andrew McLean, Director for tp bennett’s Leeds office said: “Our approach to One City Square championed the existing building, repositioning a 40-year-old building with a renewed sense of place, creating a healthy, sustainable and collaborative workplace environment for tenants in a competitive city-centre market. 📸 HUFTON & CROW LTD #Leeds #architecure #interiordesign #workspace #workplace #officearchitecture #retrofit

“We as designers have a responsibility to create environments that aren’t just one size fits all. We have to offer settings that appeal to a diverse array of people and not just assume that every environment is going to allow everyone to thrive….I’m not sure there’s ever going to be one space that suits everybody, that’s why variety and options are so important." In a roundtable for Mix Interiors, Associate Director Amy Barrs explores what it means to design the next generation of spaces to learn and work and how to create adaptive, inclusive and inspiring educational and workplace environments. This year tp bennett’s Manchester studio celebrates its 10-year anniversary. We’re looking back at some of our most significant schemes with a fresh perspective. For leading international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, we created a new global centre at One New Bailey in Salford. The workspace provides a flexible ‘centre of energy’ that supports global business innovation and a new agile approach to legal work. An improved sense of arrival opens up to an inspiring space that enables people to think and work creatively in a connected community. Leigh Dimelow, Principal Director for tp bennett’s northern studios said: “The design challenged the traditional legal office blueprint to offer a progressive and flexible environment that was representative of their culture. It was important that productivity was not just about individual outputs but also about working and innovating in teams, connecting across the organisation.” Find out more about the project https://lnkd.in/e7DHZFts #architecture #interiordesign #workplace #officedesign #Manchester #Salford

This year tp bennett’s Manchester studio celebrates its 10-year anniversary. We’re looking back at some of our most significant schemes with a fresh perspective.   At Windmill Green we transformed a derelict building into Manchester’s most sustainable new office, setting a new bar for sustainable workplaces in the city for FORE Partnership. Complete with a communal roof terrace, this deep retrofit retained the concrete frame of the original 1970s building while extending the floor area and adding two extra floors. A striking façade of teal glazed terracotta tiles and glass took its cue from Manchester’s historic urban fabric.   Yvette Hanson, Principal Director at tp bennett said: “Windmill Green was designed with occupants at its heart. It creates an office- based community which is accessible to the general public through the ground floor retail, a co-working space, and roof-top amenity. The combination of environmental sustainability and a social purpose, together with a sensitive architectural approach to a key strategic site, makes Windmill Green stand out.”   A BCO Innovation award winner, find out more about the project here https://lnkd.in/eCGDW-PD   #sustainabledesign #retrofit #Manchester #architecture #workplace
