The Caribbean Oxford Initiative - CaribOx for short - is a new visiting fellowship and travel grant programme designed to stimulate purposeful and long-lasting collaboration between researchers from institutions in the Caribbean and the University of Oxford. University of Oxford The programme aims to be a nucleus for world-class international research and knowledge exchange across disciplines and across career paths and stages.   TORCH TORCH | The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities will be managing a pilot year of the Initiative in 2025, and CaribOx will offer two pathways for cross-institutional collaboration between the Caribbean and Oxford: Two Visiting Fellowships to support collaborations between researchers at a Caribbean institution and at the University of Oxford. The elected fellows will be affiliated with the University of Oxford for twelve months, with a ten month long virtual engagement starting from January 2025. A two month in-person visit to Oxford will take place between May and June 2025 (Trinity Term). One travel grant to support a researcher at an institution in the Caribbean to undertake a two-week research visit at the University of Oxford. https://lnkd.in/eZriRMG6

Heather Professorship of Music at Oxford University The Faculty of Music and Wadham College intend to appoint to the Heather Professorship of Music with effect from 1 October 2025. The Heather Professor is the senior academic in the Faculty of Music, taking a leadership role in the research, teaching and administration of the Faculty and is closely involved in its strategic development. The Music Faculty will be moving into its brand-new home in the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities with, among other things, its 500-seat concert hall and ‘black box’ experimental music space. The new Heather Professor will be expected to take the lead in developing the exciting opportunities this space will offer for innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. We are seeking a scholar of the highest international standing with an outstanding record of research and publication in any area of musical scholarship (which may also include composition where this creative work is demonstrably research-led) and the academic stature and intellectual drive to help shape the study of music at the University Oxford for the next generation. What would a focus on after the end of events mean for the way we think about time? Prof. Patricia Kingori TORCH | The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities John F Kennedy BSc FIDM Dip DigM The After the End project is an ambitious, multi-sited, long-term research project that involves a strong collaboration of interdisciplinary researchers from all over the world seeking to explore and understand different experiences of living through ends, living after the end, and equitable policies that take different ideas of ends and endings seriously.  Through surveys, in-depth interviews, archival research and historical and literary examinations we seek to distinguish between ‘ending’ and ‘closure’ and counter dominant narratives of the end which make the pain, suffering and experiences of the least powerful invisible.https://https://lnkd.in/eRAd-V34
