Opening the Right Doors to enable you to Shine

This weekend’s Leicester Mela at the city’s popular Abbey Park drew in crowds of people from all ages, faith & community backgrounds. The two-day, family-friendly festival featured a raft of stalls offering world cuisine, drinks, arts & crafts, health and well-being advice, kids’ funfair & games, clothes, jewellery, mobile phone deals – and much more. Intrigued by the name of the fast-rising brand Tomato Energy , many visited our stand to see what was on offer. The team – Charu, Karan, Harvinder, Krishan, Lovepreet – did an amazing job explaining the firm’s products & services. 🍅 Energy independence with solar and battery installations – with no upfront costs 🍅 Fixed, low-price bills for a decade 🍅 Solar sharing for you and your community It was awesome to see British Indian stand-up comedienne Tej Dhutia in her element on stage with co-host Paul Shah from Sunrise Radio. Lovely to meet Nilesh & Mayuri Shah, the couple behind Goshalla, a protective shelter for cattle based in Leicester. They were supported by volunteers Michael & Priya. Among the many outstanding stage performances were that by Wolverhampton-based community music and development group Hit the Dhol & Sardara Gill of Apna Sangeet. A pleasure, as ever, to see the still-going-strong 96-year-old Virjibhai Ravat, who has criss-crossed continents & continues to inspire and bring laughter to the faces of all those who know him. Were you also at the Leicester Mela? Your thoughts?

🌳🍅 This weekend, our team stepped into the legendary Sherwood Forest for the "Inspiring Wildlife" event at the Robin Hood Festival. As a community-led solar energy company, we were thrilled to connect with fellow guardians of our planet! 🏹☀️ Did you know Sherwood Forest has been a Site of Special Scientific Interest for 70 years? Home to some of Europe's oldest oak trees, it's a living testament to the power of preservation. From beekeepers to bat enthusiasts, we mingled with passionate conservationists and learned how our solar initiatives can complement wildlife protection. Who knew solar panels and ancient oaks could be such great neighbours? At Tomato Energy , we're not just brightening homes - we're illuminating a path to a greener future where renewable energy and biodiversity thrive side by side. Here's to 70 more years of Sherwood's natural splendour, and countless more of clean, community-powered energy! 🌱 "Tomato Energy is the UK’s first supplier providing customers the option of personalised tariffs through smart meter data."💡 We recently conducted a survey revealing that around one in three respondents want smart meters with personalised tariffs to reduce costs. Of the 2,000 households surveyed, 55% want their energy company to proactively offer the cheapest possible tariffs, while 40% of decision-makers were unaware of their current tariff. Opening the Right Doors to enable you to Shine

Scores of people, young and traditional, reflecting the West Midlands’ multicultural melting pot turned out to the Wednesfield Canal Festival over the weekend.   A shining example of people and communities living in peace and harmony. World music, cuisine, kids’ funfair, stalls, barges and more brought this free-entry, family-friendly event to life. An estimated 10,000 people attended over both days.   Great to see long-serving teacher, now local MP Sureena Brackenridge attend on both days. Also in attendance were the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Cllr Linda Leach who has made ‘Every Person Matters’ the theme for her year in office; Councillors Paul Singh and Cllr Ciaran Brackenridge, Bashir Ahmed MBE – to list just a handful. Credit to DJ Niel Jackson for an outstanding performance.   Headline sponsor were Tomato Energy , who continue to fly their flag to help people generate and share their own electricity through community batteries, aka Tomatopia. This fast-rising company operates nationally and also offers tailored tariffs. Representatives included Wayne Scott-Fox, Simeon Barnes, Ayoitunu Babalola and superstar duo Macmilan Martin and Simmy Martinez.   Hats off to the Festival Committee, all volunteers, for working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Festival, now in its 10th year, a roaring success, which I certainly felt it was. The glorious weather was an added bonus.   Award-winning performing artist and fabulous Bhangra dancer Sohan Kailey drew in crowds with his interactive style. A longstanding friend I was pleasantly surprised that he remembered the Water Festival from 2009 which I had helped organise when I worked at the Environment Agency with Mark Funnell, Suzanne Bennett, Sharon Robinson, Lisa Pinney and Mark Sitton-Kent.   All in all, a fabulous weekend. Let’s hope that the press & media cover such positive and good news stories, of which there are plenty.
