We are excited to launch our guide to screening for psychological & mental health issues in the aesthetic surgery patient. This guide aids with selecting reliable & validated tools that assist with screening for mental health & psychological disorders that commonly present in the aesthetic surgery patient, thus assisting the aesthetic surgical team with identifying clients who may present with elevated risk factors for poorer surgical outcomes & who would benefit from referral for more comprehensive psychological assessment to ensure barriers to maximal outcomes are identified & addressed. #aestheticsurgery #cosmeticsurgery #rhinoplasty #mammoplasty #abdominoplasty #psychologicalassessment #electivesurgery #plasticsurgery

Our latest post focuses on Psychological Assessment & Support for those undertaking Aesthetic Surgery. Psychological distress and mental health disorders are common in those seeking aesthetic surgical procedures and the presence of such issues can interfere with both pre-operative and postoperative processes and outcomes. Early identification, assessment and management of psychological need is paramount to minimising adverse outcomes and ensuring maximal outcomes for both the patient and the medical team. • This very much holds true for people with long term physical health conditions. Psychologists can support with managing physical health symptoms and support with emotionally adjusting to living with a health condition. There does not need to be an underlying psychological disorder to benefit from these sessions!

I don’t have a psychological disorder. Why refer me to a psychologist? When you’re referred to a psychologist, it doesn’t mean you have a psychological disorder. It just means, you have issues that can be addressed by a psychologist to help improve your quality of life and to reduce your risk of getting a psychological disorder. Mental health is like dental health. You don’t need to have a cavity to see a dentist. Seeing a mental health professional is also about life enhancement and prevention of disorder. Don’t wait till things get worse. If you’re stuck, seek help. It gets much more costly when your condition becomes severe - financially, socially, physically and emotionally. No health without mental health. Let’s put the mental back into health. #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealth
