About us
The Sustainable Angle is a not-for-profit organisation and founders of #FutureFabricsExpo. We initiate and support projects with a focus on sustainability in Fashion and Textiles and related industries such as food and agriculture. The fashion and textile industries are amongst the worlds most polluting, and as such, became the main focus of our work The Future Fabrics Expo was initiated in order to effect positive change within the industry by connecting and promoting innovators and suppliers of sustainable materials with fashion brands. The materials showcased at the Future Fabrics Expo are all accompanied by educational background information and the seminars and workshops are held to aid fashion brands to have a positive impact upon nature and communities. Fashion has the potential to become a vehicle and agent for change — working with sustainably produced textiles that are safe, renewable, restorative. Thank you Cyrill Gutsch and everyone campaigning to #freepaulwatson. We The Sustainable Angle fully support Paul Watson, anti-whaling activist and hero for the oceans. He should be celebrated for protecting the oceans not hand cuffed! It is senseless what the Danish government did this week, especially when we know that #whales - which Paul has campaigned to protect for decades - help capture carbon through their fertilization of phytoplankton: a single whale can sequester over 33 tons of CO2 in carbon in their body (Ralph Chami who co-authored a paper on #naturebasedsolutions and economy while working for 22 years at IMF) and stores it when the body sinks to the seabed!
#FreePaulWatson 🌊✨🌊 Captain Paul Watson has been arrested by danish authorities for protecting whales, sharks, oceans. Paul is a dear friend and endless inspiration. Paul’s courage to stand up for life in the ocean, to stand up for the protection of our future, of all our future —- is nothing else than an act of courage and compassion — an act of love for the wild. At Parley for the Oceans we believe in collaboration, creativity and eco innovation. There is a way out of this mess. A beautiful and successful one. Please direct message me if you want to help! A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend the Future Fabrics Expo, an incredible event where I learned from and connected with leading experts in the sustainable fashion industry. Since 2014, over $3 billion has been invested in next-gen material companies, with 53% being plant-based. To scale these new fibres and fabrics, collaborative work and standardisation are essential. Sustainabelle Advisory Services has identified three key priorities for achieving this goal: ✅ Information creation: Focuses on alignment and standardisation through open-source resources and the formation of industry associations. ✅ R&D: Aims to leverage supplier knowledge and improve technological processes, thereby accelerating development timelines and achieving better results. ✅ Funding: It is centred on catalytic opportunities, including lobbying for government funding and collaborative R&D financing. These collective actions will not only provide clarity and facilitate action but also result in more effective policies and greater public investment, accelerating the adoption of these innovative materials in the fashion industry. If you're interested in learning more, I'd love to share some of my favourite next-gen companies Neofibers, GALY, Bananatex®, Ponda Bio, TômTex Co. 👇🏽🤩 #sustainability #sustainablefashion #nextgenfibres #nextgenfabrics #nextgen #futurefabrics

The Future Fabrics Expo returns to NYC in 2024 for a two-day Edition on 19-20 November at Metropolitan Pavilion (125 W 18th St, Manhattan, New York)! 🏙️✨ We’re excited to share a short roundup video of the 2024 London Future Fabrics Expo. While the NYC Edition will be smaller than London, it will be in the same spirit and follows the same formula... Since 2011, Future Fabrics Expo has evolved and is now the largest dedicated global sourcing destination for sustainably produced textiles and materials for fashion, home, and interiors. The Expo is not only a sourcing destination and showcase, it’s also educational #LearningBySourcing, aiming to inspire the industry to source responsibly and operate within planetary boundaries. 🌎 Exhibitors and partners, please visit the link in our bio to register and get in touch. Vogue Business is looking at the state of the «Next-Gen» Material Industry. Many brands show ambitions but fail when it comes to real commitment. Why? It's about the rules of the game - those need to change. The cost of materials must equal the price, which is clearly not the case today. Real costs are pushed onto next generations, which is more than unfair towards A) our kids and B) responsibly sourced - and therefore more expensive - material alternatives. Once those outlines change, the material revolution will be like a tsunami. Policy makers must initiate this change, and create a framework for the future. Thank you Bella Webb for asking the right questions! Bananatex® OnceMore® Biophilica Sequinova UNCAGED Innovations Ecovative - the mycelium technology company
Why is it so hard for next-gen materials to scale?
