🗣 "As robots become more commonplace in classrooms and other child-focused environments, understanding how children form trusting relationships with these machines will be crucial. "With this insight, we can design robots to more effectively collaborate with teachers and help to educate children." In a new op-ed for leading #education title Tes Magazine, our Industry and Schools Engagement Lead Michelle McLeod explores the relationship between humans and robots, and how building trust in robots like #Ameca is key to greater adoption in schools. 🤖 Read it in full at: https://lnkd.in/gA34w2ij #robotics #AI #MachineLearning #ConversationalAI #TrustinRobots #TheNationalRobotarium Heriot-Watt University HW Engage Data-Driven Innovation Initiative Engineered Arts Ltd

Thanks to ITV evening news for their feature on the #NationalRobotarium over the weekend! The piece covered a recent visit from Lasswade School to meet #Ameca, our newest robot resident and one of the world’s most advanced humanoids. The visit was led by our dedicated outreach and engagement team as part of our commitment to break down common misconceptions about #robotics and #AI and improve access to robotic technologies for all. Thanks to all the schools who participated in our outreach programme with Causeway Education! Our webinar exploring #careers in #robotics #AI and #engineering was watched by over 300 students across England, many of whom entered our competition to solve a global challenge using robotic technologies or #ArtificialIntelligence. Congratulations to the winners at Springwood High School (King's Lynn) who will receive robotics starter kits for their class. Stay tuned for more robotics opportunities for young people in the new school year! #robots #skills #talent #engagement #HelpingPeople #HelpingSociety #TheNationalRobotarium Heriot-Watt University Data-Driven Innovation Initiative
Happy AI Appreciation Day! We have been working with The National Robotarium to deliver a programme for secondary schools in England. It started with a webinar to over 300 students about the Robotics and AI industry and how it can solve real-world problems. We had two excellent speakers from the industry, alongside 'Ameca' – the world’s most advanced humanoid robot 🤖 After the webinar, students worked on The National Robotarium competition, where they were asked to think about a real-world problem and how robotics and AI can solve it. We received so many wonderful and creative ideas! Congratulations to students at Springwood High School (King's Lynn) who won the competition and a starter robotics kit 😀

A robotically literate NHS could be a driver of economic development in the UK and place our health service at the global forefront. By being an informed customer, the NHS could enable it's suppliers to understand, build and maintain robotics to assist NHS workers and users. A whole manufacturing and supply chain, staffed by trained workers, would emerge around a robotics-enabled health service, providing quality jobs and private investment. The National Robotarium can support NHS leadership to understand a complex landscape. Supporting our life sciences sector will help rebuild our NHS and fuel growth. Peter Kyle met with Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP to discuss how DSIT and the Department of Health and Social Care for Health and Social Care can work together to partner with the sector that will drive medical breakthroughs in Britain and across the world.
