'Exquisite exhibition-in-miniature' - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Throughout his career, David Hockney has found inspiration in the work of other artists. He never tires of looking at paintings. For him, there’s magic in it every time, whether that’s enjoying a picture in a gallery or a much-loved poster at home. Our latest free exhibition, 'Hockney and Piero: A Longer Look', brings together two renowned Hockney paintings, one showing his mother and father and the other depicting his friend, curator Henry Geldzahler. They are displayed with the thread that ties them together, Piero della Francesca’s ‘The Baptism of Christ’. Book your free ticket: https://bit.ly/3R47Uc2 #DavidHockney #Exhibition #NationalGallery

✨ 12 iconic paintings, 12 amazing venues ✨ To celebrate our Bicentenary this summer, we sent twelve key paintings from our collection, including Constable’s 'The Hay Wain', Turner’s 'Fighting Temeraire' and Monet’s 'The Water-Lily Pond', to twelve different locations across the UK, enabling people from all over the UK to see, up close, some of the greatest works in the history of Western art. For some of the works, not least 'The Wilton Diptych' and Botticelli’s 'Venus and Mars', was the first time they had left the Gallery since they were acquired. We would like to say a big thank you to each of our twelve partner venues who marked their National Treasure's stay with incredible events, exhibitions and digital interventions, as well as all the people across the country who came to see them: https://bit.ly/40zyrBh Did you visit any of the twelve National Treasures exhibitions?
