Mainline operators are looking for a a price hike in Asia-US West Coast rates in mid-August to undo the recent correction... Linerlytica’s report today notes: “The carriers’ resolve will be keenly tested, as recent capacity additions on the Asia-to-USWC and Mexico routes have tilted the supply-demand balance on the previously tight market, with capacity utilisation falling despite strong peak season cargo demand.” Martina Li reports. #containershipping #oceanshipping #oceanfreight #seafreight #freightrates #asia #us #usa #logistics #supplychain https://lnkd.in/eZV4EpTH

“Deep repercussions” from the “ripple effects” of the Red Sea crisis have surprised shippers, according to Global Shippers Forum's James Hookham, “[The Red Sea crisis] introduced what we thought would be a one-off hit of delays as routings re-adjusted to an extra seven-to-10-day delivery time. And I think the expectation was, once the roots were reconfigured, things would settle down,” he told Michael King on the latest Loadstar Podcast. “But the ripple effect has been huge." However, recent Xeneta data indicates there may be light on the horizon... There was more evidence in this week’s container port freight markets that peak prices on the main east-west deepsea trades have passed. All three major indices recorded single-digit declines on the back of lower utilisation of ships loading in Asia. “The continued injection of newbuilding capacities is slowly eroding the market’s current strong fundamentals." Gavin van Marle reports on the latest ocean shipping freight rates as informed by Xeneta and Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd. #containershipping #oceanfreight #seafreight #oceanshipping #cargo #freight #supplychain #logistics #freightrates https://lnkd.in/d8_QQsFc

The three US mega-airlines – Delta, United and American – expanded their cargo traffic in the second quarter, but they only got a nibble at the rising volumes of ecommerce flowing out of China to their home turf. "US airlines have been more or less bystanders when it comes to the tidal wave of e-commerce that has boosted global airfreight volumes and yields...."
