About us

The Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust has been launched in memory of Jordan Sinnott who died, aged 25 years, after being fatally injured in Retford, Nottinghamshire, on 25th January 2020. The Trust achieved status as a registered charity in late December 2021 and aims to help small grassroots clubs thrive by offering grants of up to £5,000 to pay for equipment, transport and kit in order to help engage vulnerable or disadvantaged people with sport. Children and young adults facing barriers, including young carers, can apply for individual grants up to £2,000 to help facilitate their passion and desire to participate in sport. The creation of the charity builds on the outpouring of support following Jordan’s death, with football clubs in the UK and overseas sending in football shirts bearing “Sinnott 25” for distribution to grassroots sports clubs in the UK and overseas. Three of Jordan’s closest friends: Middlesbrough FC player Matt Crooks; retired professional football player, Jonathan Stead and Danny Ward, Huddersfield Town FC player have become Trustees of the charity and are working closely with Jordan’s mum, Melanie Tait to raise funds to help award to clubs and projects which will enable those facing barriers to participate in sport. The Charity Patron is Ian Wright, MBE, former premier league footballer, pundit and TV presenter. The Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trusts objectives are: 🔷 The relief of those who are in need, particularly children and young people, by reason of sickness or disability, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, including by the provision of grants to fund items such as sports equipment, club membership or training facilities for those who cannot afford them. 🔷 To help young people, by means of sport and healthy recreation, to develop their capabilities and fulfil their potential as individuals and members of society. • As the weather gets colder 🥶 we thought we’d tell you a few ice hockey facts. How many did you know? 🏒 The oldest ice hockey club in the world is the McGill University Hockey Club, founded in 1877 in Montreal, Canada. The sport has deep roots in North America and has grown into a global game, with European and Asian countries increasingly participating at the highest levels. 🏒 By 2024, technology plays a big role in ice hockey, from player tracking systems that analyses performance - to advanced video review systems that help officials make more accurate calls on the ice. 🏒 The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) remains the top-level professional ice hockey league in the UK, with 10 teams competing across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Teams like the Sheffield Steelers, Cardiff Devils, and Belfast Giants dominate the league. 🏒 There are ongoing discussions about expanding the infrastructure for ice hockey in the UK, with new arenas and improved facilities planned in several cities, which would help boost both the EIHL and grassroots development. • With it being Organ Donation Week this week, we thought we would tell you a little more about Organ Donation and your wishes. 🩷 The organ donation process involves a specialist team who ensure that donors are treated with the greatest care and respect during the removal of organs and tissue for donation. 🩷 The retrieval of organs takes place in a normal operating theatre under sterile conditions, and is carried out by specialist surgeons. Afterwards the surgical incision is carefully closed and covered by a dressing in the normal way. 🩷 Only those organs and tissue specified by the donor and agreed with the family will be removed. 🩷 Your faith and beliefs will always be respected. This information is taken straight from the Organ Donation website - to read more about the organ donation process take a look at their website here - https://lnkd.in/gHKqz6N #organdonation #organdonor #organdonationawareness #donatelife

  • This week is Organ Donation Week. 🩷 Organ Donation was something that was really important to Jordan, he always carried a donor card, and it was his wish that if anything happened to him, he would want to help others. Jordan’s wish for his organs to be donated was granted and his selfless act went on to help change many others lives; seven in fact - all between the ages of 20 to 50. 💙 Anyone can register a decision to become an organ donor after death, there is no age limit. To add your name to the NHS Organ Donor Register you’ll need to live in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man. • Did you know that participating in sports can help improve your attention and focus? 🤔 Playing sports requires concentration and quick reflexes, which can translate into improved attention and focus in daily tasks. Activities that require strategic thinking and quick decision-making can help train your brain to stay alert and attentive - This means that children who play sports regularly often have better focus in school, and adults can find themselves more productive at work. Find out why we are so passionate about everyone having access to sports on our website ➡️ https://www.js25.co.uk/ #JSFT #sportscharity #attention #focus #playingsports

  • Today we want to give a little throwback to an event we held in May, the Boro Bid To Play at the Riverside pitch. ⚽ The day was organised by Red Faction; the supporters group, who went above and beyond to raise money for the JSFT, including a raffle featuring some exclusive Boro prizes. The match featured their team against a team of fans who successfully bid for a spot on the opposing XI. Our Vice-Chair Matt Crooks organised the silent auction and the top 11 highest bids were accepted. These fortunate fans were informed they made the team sheet for this extraordinary event. 💙 The event raised an incredible £3,925 for the charity. 👏 Read more about this fantastic event on our website ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ev4D4Wzp #football #footballmatch #fundraiser #footballdreams #JSFT
