Supporting current and former insurance employees and their dependants
About us
Adversity can affect anyone: a child with medical needs, a relationship breakdown, mental health issues, domestic abuse, a debilitating illness; all unforeseen events that can turn lives upside down. Established over 120 years ago, we are the only charity in the UK and Ireland solely supporting past and present employees in the industry, no matter what role they have had. Every year, we support hundreds of insurance employees and their families in times of need, transforming lives for the better and providing an essential lifeline for as long as is required. In 2023/2024 we awarded over £1.4 million to those facing hardship. The Charity can help you with one-off payments to help finance essential items such as household repairs, school uniforms, and mobility aids, and can also provide ongoing financial help (including charitable loans) where income is restricted or insufficient to meet day-to-day essential costs. We also work with other organisations such as Shelter UK to provide practical support where needed. We want to ensure no insurance employee in need of help misses out. We urge all industry employees to share our details with their professional networks (including those who have retired) and signpost anyone who needs support to our website. Please contact us to discuss how we can support your colleagues. We'd particularly like to hear from those in HR, Wellbeing, Mental Health and CSR roles and individuals with people management responsibilities.

We'd like to say a few thank yous. Firstly to Crawford & Company for once again choosing us and Insurance United Against Dementia as the charity beneficiaries of Wednesday's Insurance Post British Insurance Awards. A special thank you goes to Andrew Bart for his wonderful speech, showcasing the work and impact delivered by both The Insurance Charities and Alzheimer's Society. We are so grateful for all of those who donated on the night and since, and hope that everyone who attended will remember The Insurance Charities if they or a colleague face challenging circumstances, now or in the future. #BIA2024 #ThankYou #InsuranceIndustry

We'd like to wish all those shortlisted for the Insurance Post British Insurance Awards, the best of luck this evening. We also want to take this opportunity to thank the Award's Charity Partner Crawford & Company, for supporting us and Insurance United Against Dementia once again. Both charities are so grateful for this wonderful platform to help raise awareness and funds, and we thank Andrew Bart in advance, for encouraging everyone attending, to lend their support to our industry specific charities! #BIA2024
