Great article in Physics World about new markets for the high-temperature superconducting magnets being developed by fusion energy companies, like Tokamak Energy. Their new business division TE Magnetics is aiming to tap into a market reported by Future Market Insights, Inc. to be worth $3.3 billion in 2023. https://lnkd.in/dzh9mY74

Here at The Fusion Cluster, we believe science is for everyone. That's why we're proud to support the widening participation scheme at New Scientist Live taking place 12-13 October at ExCeL in London. #NewScientistLive #STEM #Inspiration #Education #ScienceForAll #WideningParticipation https://lnkd.in/ecbgKDuE
🌟 The New Scientist Live widening participation scheme, sponsored by The Fusion Cluster over the weekend and Technicians: We Make the Difference on Schools’ Day, ensures the show is accessible to the widest possible audience with over 5,000 tickets available free of charge. 🎫 We’ve allocated tickets to our partners at In2scienceUK, and their In2careers students have shared some inspiring reasons why they want to attend: 💬 Khrish: Last year I had the privilege of attending with my grandad and saw a variety of inspiring and thought-provoking talks. The highlight for me was seeing Tom Crawford, the YouTuber whose videos I watched regularly on numberphile before I myself decided to pursue a mathematical career. For my grandad, who never had a formal education but an avid scientific reader, he loved every moment of it including the many immersive stands. It was such a memorable day, that I would love to see again!” 💬 Zakiyah: “Adam Rutherford, who has been my favourite author since I was 14 for first inspiring my intense interest in genetics and evolutionary biology, will be speaking at the event on Saturday. Getting to see and hear him speak in person would be surreal for me. Attending the event will most definitely add fuel to my science spark.” 💬 Amber: Due to having quite a sheltered upbringing, I have not been able to network or talk to many individuals within the field of science. I believe it is important for me to view modern day research to help me formulate ideas about how I can also further research and help impact the world further which is why I believe visiting the event would be beneficial to me. On top of this, I would like to be able to see how people present their research so I could also do the same in years to come.” 💗 This is the best Monday motivation ever to ensure we deliver the best possible experience for Khrish, Zakiyah, Amber, and their In2Careers peers. Let’s make this event unforgettable! 🤝 The picture below is of Daniyal Shaikh who participated last year and had an amazing experience. Here he is networking with Tim Gregory. #NewScientistLive #STEM #Inspiration #Education #ScienceForAll #wideningparticipation
