Good Food For Good Causes

About us

We fight food waste and food poverty by redistributing surplus good food to charities who need it. The Felix Project collects surplus fresh food from food retailers and wholesalers. We sort this in our depots and deliver it free of charge to charities and schools that provide hot meals and food parcels to people in need. This is a simple model that addresses the crucial issues of food waste and food poverty. We pass on the fresh, healthy food to charities who need it, supplying food for community kitchens, homeless hostels, food banks, refuges and charities cooking for people overcoming illness, incapacity or addiction. Our operation is simple, reliable and efficient. We have a small team of staff and more than 450 volunteers who drive our fleet of electric vans, walk or cycle to collect food from suppliers and deliver to around 1,000 charities and schools. Every hour volunteered enables 100 meals worth of food to be delivered and every £5 donated enables us to rescue £14.5 worth of food.

We want to say a HUGE thank you from everyone here at Felix to the over one thousand Morgan Stanley employees who volunteered with us as part of Global Volunteer Month #MSGivesBack. Whether they've been in our kitchen chopping vegetables and packing meals, or in our depots sorting the incredible surplus food, they have been amazing! Together, we’ve delivered thousands of meals to community organisations and schools across London who help to feed those in need. At a time when 100,000 working families in London have less than £3 a day to spend on food, these meals are vital so once again THANK YOU 💚!

With the growing cost-of-living crisis in our city, we have officially launched our Felix's Multibank, which will support more than 40,000 families by providing essentials like baby clothes, bedding, hygiene & cleaning products and furniture. We know that 1 in 4 Londoners are living in poverty and that its vital people have access to healthy and nutritious food but we also know that people are struggling to cover the costs of their many other everyday expenses. This is where our partnership with MULTIBANKS UK, founded by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Amazon are stepping in to support Londoners and people struggling to make ends meet. The rescue and redistribution of food is still our main focus but to truly ensure that no Londoner goes hungry, we have to at least try to tackle some of the other factors preventing members of our community from putting food on the table or stocking their cupboards. This is a huge task but thankfully we don't have to do this alone. Thank you to Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and the GLA, John Boumphrey and you're entire Amazon team. Gordon Brown for launching The Multibank imitative across the UK. Comic Relief, The Trussell Trust, Little Village, and In Kind Direct for working alongside us to make our city a better place and SEGRO plc for being our property partner and giving Felix's Multibank a home. And as always thank you to all of our supports, funders, and most importantly our amazing volunteers 💚. You can read more about the Multibank launch here: https://lnkd.in/eugCgZUQ

At The Felix Project, our vision is of a London where no-one goes hungry and good food is never wasted. But at the end of the day, it's not just food that people in our community are sacrificing to make ends meet. This is where the MULTIBANKS UK initiative is stepping in and we are so proud to be a partner in it. These vital cleaning, hygiene, and baby products are going to help alleviate the pressure families across London and the UK are feeling every day as they try to feed their families. Thank you to all of our partners, suppliers, funders, friends and volunteers who have helped us support our community.

We are living in incredibly challenging times for so many. At The Felix Project we are in track to rescue 38 million meals this year and distribute them to 1,100 community partners with the help of thousands of volunteers and some amazing colleagues who I am very proud to work alongside. Today, alongside Gordon Brown, MULTIBANKS UK John Boumphrey Amazon Comic Relief and Mayor of London we are launching Felix's Multibank, where we will rescue other surplus items (such as bedding, toiletries, baby equipment) that would otherwise go to landfill and distribute them to our amazing community partners. We're proud to be partnering with The Trussell Trust and Little Village (led by the amazing Emma Revie and Sophie Livingstone MBE ) and working alongside In Kind Direct (led by the epic Rosanne Gray) to support communities most at risk. As with everything we do at The Felix Project this is about partnership and collaboration. Huge thanks at ever to SEGRO plc for being our property partner. We will never turn away food for non-food items, that remains our focus. But we believe we can use our logistics capability to get other essential items to those most in need. We believe this work will help achieve both our environmental and social impact goals. As ever, a huge thanks to everyone who's made this possible. Watch this space..... https://lnkd.in/esxXaG6p

We want to wish a happy anniversary to Manning Impex Ltd, who is celebrating 2 years of supplying us with surplus food! Over these incredible two years, they have donated a 104 tonnes of food that we were able to then redistribute out to Londoners in need. That's the equivalent of 248,000 meals worth of food. And as we hit send on this post, they let us know that another 41 pallets are headed our way. If you have surplus food or are unsure as to what exactly surplus food is and want to be food heroes like Manning Impex, please send us a DM or message Richard Smith, Paul Bains or Aimi Wilder.
